Review: Pie Girls

Princess, Southern belle, and spoiled-rotten social climber Searcy Roberts swore on a stack of Bibles she’d never return home to Fairhope, Alabama. After marrying her high school sweetheart and moving to Atlanta, Searcy embraces big-city life—Carrie Bradshaw style.
But now, Searcy has a teeny, tiny problem. Her husband’s had a mid-life crisis. He’s quit his job, cancelled her credit cards, and left her for another man.
Searcy returns to Fairhope, ready to lick her wounds. But when her mother falls ill, she’s thrust into managing the family business—only to discover the beloved bakery is in danger of closing its doors forever.
Enlisting the help of the adorable bike store owner next door, an array of well-heeled customers, and her soon-to-be ex-husband, Searcy hatches the plan of the century to save Pie Girls.

Review Rating: 4 LIGHTNING BOLTS

Pie Girls is the story about having to grow up. Not in the literal sense, but in the sense that life isn't always what you think it's going to be. Searcy is spoiled, sometimes snotty and she's about to get a rude awakening. While I felt for her, sometimes I just wanted to smack her, too.  But she DEFINITELY has a turn around in this story, it just takes awhile to get to that point.

With humor, emotion and plenty of life like situations, Pie Girls kept me turning the pages. There's characters to love, characters to hate and a little in between. Lauren Clark is a fabulous author that knows how to weave a good page turning story!

  1. Dear Nikki - I'm so excited to be featured on Storm Goddess Book Reviews & More today!

Thank you for sticking with Searcy as she goes on her journey from spoiled rotten to smart and sweet! It was a fun ride, for me as a writer, especially coming up with those delicious characters that everyone loves to hate!

I'm so flattered by your fabulous review ... and letting your readers know what you enjoyed about the book!

    Hugs, Lauren
