Interview with Harlie Williams

Welcome to my blog! Today, I have with me the great debut author Harlie Williams for an interview! Please help me in making Harlie feel welcome to the blog!

tell me about yourself, and your writing.  I'm actually very boring.

I'm a stay at home mom now after being in a cube for over 25 years.  Don't miss it all either.  I married late (37), had our son at (38) and I'm a cougar.  Yep, the hubster is 7 years younger than me.  We live in East Texas and love it.  I was born in the great state of Oklahoma (Boomer Sooner) and was raised in Dallas, TX.  I don't miss the traffic in Dallas but I do miss my friends and family.  I started writing because my husband liked the notes that I would leave for me around the house.  (He still has most of them in his nightstand)

How long have you been writing? How many published books do you have, and what genres?

I've only been writing for a little over a year.  I've been a reviewer/blogger for over 3 years though.  I write spicy contemporary romance.  I've only published the one book...The Couple.

Do you write in multiple genres or just one? If just one, do you ever consider straying outside your genre?

So far, I've only written contemporary but I am writing a romantic suspense with a paranormal element woven in.

Are you a plotter or do you write from the seat of your pants?

For The Couple I was a complete pantser.  For my other 3, I'm a plotter.  I wrote an outline with character bios, descriptions of places, and basically where everything is going.  I needed to do that since 2 of the 3 stories could become book 1's of a series.

What is a typical writing day like for you?

Seriously?  When I can squeeze it in.  Between being a stay at home mom, blogging/reading/reviewing and keeping my email somewhat under control, writing sometimes a backseat.

Who do you love to read?

Favorite authors, favorite books?Julie Garwood, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Rachel Gibson, Tom Clancy, John Grisham, Sandra Brown, Cherry Adair, Karen Rose, Karen Robards, Julie Miller, Marta Perry, Lauren Dane, Shayla Black.  Very diverse group don't you think?  Book boyfriend(s)...Noah Clayborne (Julie Garwood Buchanan's) and Jack Ryan *swoon*

What is something you'd like to accomplish in your writing career next year?

I'm pitching to Samhain and I've entered the Blaze writing contest through Harlequin.  If neither one of those pans out, I'll submit them somewhere else.

If you could have one paranormal ability, what would it be?

To be invisible like a ghost.  I would be able to walk through walls and be that "fly on the wall".

If you could keep a mythical/ paranormal creature as a pet, what would you have?

 A gargoyle.

Tell us a little about your latest release.

Its a spicy story about a couple that meet in a bar.  And no its NOT a one night stand...actually its much more than that.

What is something that you absolutely can't live without? (Other than family members)

Skittles, Pepsi, Kindle, phone and Shiner Beer.

Could you ever co author a book with someone? If so, who would you choose, and what would you write?

Yes, please.  I would love to co-author with someone but I'm not "cool" enough.  It was hell just finding a critique partner.  My dream writer would be Julie Garwood because I've got ideas for the remaining Buchanans.    Michael (a Navy SEAL) and the baby Zack have stories to tell.

If you could spend a day with anyone from history, dead or alive, who would it be, and what would you do? What would you ask them?

For me its always been Dwight Eisenhowser.  I would love to sit and ask him questions of WWII.  Plus, Winston Churchill, Margaret Thatcher and Queen Victoria.  Surprised you didn't I?  Its not an author.

What are some of your other hobbies outside of writing?

Unfortunately, I don't have hobbies besides reading.  I had a career for so long that now that I'm a stay at home, my life revolves around our son.  I do love college football (Boomer Sooner and Gig 'm Aggies), NASCAR, Baseball (Texas Rangers and Houston Astros) and the Houston Texans.  So I guess sports.

If you were on the staff to have a book adapted to movie, what would you pick?

For my only story...Jon Hamm and Amy Adams.

What is a talent you wish you had, but don't?

Play guitar.  I can air guitar with Eddie Van Halen.

             Favorite color?  Blue

Weather: Hot or cold?

Cold.  I live in Texas and I HATE summer.

Favorite place to read?  Bed

Favorite meal

Chicken Fried Steak, Mashed Potatoes, Cream Gravy and Green Beans.  I'm southern...oh and sweet tea and rolls with homemade butter.  Dessert...peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream.

Favorite non-alcoholic drink.

 Pepsi or Diet Dr. Pepper

If you could travel anywhere and do anything, no limits or money holding you back, where would you go?

Ireland/Scotland, New Zealand, Australia.

The Couple by Harlie Williams - Media Kit
Blurb:
A woman has one thing on her mind tonight…sex. Dirty, sweaty, kinky sex with a cowboy. With her man gone more than he is at home, she needs the release.
After being away for two weeks, a cowboy goes looking for someone to play with for the night. Being away is part of the job but not having someone to come home to is hurting his soul. Feeling disconnected in his love life, the red head will be perfect.
Once they meet, can one night of pure passion led to more than just a one night stand for either of them? Communication is the key to every relationship. Can these two find a way to connect emotionally or are they destined for heartache.

Excerpt (PG-13 for language)
What’s a girl like you doing at a bar like this?” he asked.
Her voice was a purr, like a cat well satisfied with its stolen pitcher of cream. “I’m looking for someone special.”
Hoping that she meant him he asked, “Did you find him yet?”
Maybe.” The glint in her eye told him he was definitely in the running. However, I’m not looking to hook up with just any old cowboy. He must be able to go the full eight seconds and come back for more.” She eyed him from head to toe. “Think you can handle that?”
Oh, I can most definitely handle you sweetheart.
Not wanting to seem too eager he replied, “I’m not sure but I’m willing to try.”
Do or do not. There is no try.” He struggled not to let his grin escape. The fact that she was trying to seduce him made his dick twitch.
Let’s just say I’m looking to burn off some pent up frustration. A little excess energy. And I’ve got plenty to burn.”
The way she shivered at his words, he knew he almost had her. He winked as she licked her crimson lips and blew out a small breath. Damn what this woman is doing to him.
He pushed her knees apart with his left leg and was rewarded with the amazing scent of her arousal. The knowledge she was wet for him had him close to going off in his jeans.
Houston, we have lift-off!
Why don’t you have a seat cowboy and we’ll talk about it.”
She gasped when he shocked her with a brush of his lips against hers; fighting with everything he had not to deepen the kiss.
Patience, patience.
He would play her game for the moment but sooner or later, she would be his. Tied up and begging for more.
He asked her, “Now about that eight second ride?”
