Blurb: Gail DeMarco left Whiskey Creek, California, to make a name for herself in Los Angeles. Her PR firm has accumulated a roster of A-list clients, including the biggest box office hit of all — sexy and unpredictable Simon O'Neal. But Simon, who's just been through a turbulent divorce, is so busy self-destructing he won't listen to anything she says. She drops him from her list — and he retaliates by taking the rest of her clients with him.

Desperate to save her company, Gail has to humble herself by making a deal with Simon. The one thing he wants is custody of his son, but that's going to require a whole new image. He needs to marry some squeaky-clean girl who'll drag him off to some small, obscure place like Whiskey Creek. . .

Gail's the only one he can trust. She agrees to become his wife — reluctantly. But she isn't reluctant because he's too hard to like. It's because he's too hard not to love!

Review: She's trying to save her company, and he can't save himself....

Gail has a bit of a dilemma. Her PR company is in trouble, and losing Simon doesn't help....No, not at all. When Lightning Strikes has a new twist on the old marriage of convenience story line.

Brenda Novak has done it again, with this emotional, funny and riveting read. The hero, Simon, is hard to like at first, but has redeemed himself by the end. I wasn't sure how things were going to go down between him and Gail. They're total opposites. But Simon is under the public radar, being famous, and he's had a few rough years, which he lets out in unprofessional ways. Gail is there to help him, even if it does mean marrying the man that's driving the company to her ground? Oh boy. I think trouble is brewing. A storm! A storm of emotions, heartbreak, and a chance at love that no one expected.

The characters are well fleshed out. By far they aren't perfect, but that's what makes them great. There's room to grow, especially for Gail and Simon. In Novak's new Whiskey Creek series, When Lightning Strikes hits the spot. A great contemporary romance for everyone! I can't wait for more. Ms. Novak has been one of my go to authors for years, and this new story does not disappoint.
