Author: Callie Hutton

Genre: Historical Romance

Rating: 4 LIGHTNING BOLTS

Blurb: An Angel in the Mail, set in 1861, unites Angel Hardwick and Nathan Hale, father of five, who is desperate for a wife to straighten his life out. Nate’s looking for someone who loves children and can easily take over the cooking, cleaning, and laundry. Instead, he is getting Angel, whose culinary knowledge consists of weekly meetings with Cook to decide the family’s menu.

Angel , a strong-minded young woman, is resigned to her fate and determined to make the best of her situation. But will her new husband allow for mistakes? Or will he send her packing when she burns meals and misplaces children?

Nate just wants a peaceful, well-run household, without the distraction of an attractive wife. However, his beautiful wife with a very distractible body is not giving him peace. Somebody lied, because despite what he was told by the Bride Agency, this beauty knows nothing about running a home, but she sure sets him on fire at night.

To survive, Nate and Angel have to come to a working arrangement, but will they be able to find a happily ever after with someone working behind the scenes to destroy their relationship?

REVIEW:
Angel Hardwick has had her fair share of heartache and pain. Her stepmother has done the unthinkable and now Angel is living out in the west with no clue what her stepmother did. All she knows is she is now married to Nathan Hale. Her only experience in cooking is with the help planning menus and now she must cook for him and his children. She always dreamed of finding the one to love her but not like this. The more time she spends with Nate and his kids she is starting to realize what has been missing from her life all this time. Nate knows she is inexperienced yet has patience with her unlike some other people. The kids are great with her but know that once the truth comes out Nate will hate her. Can she figure out how to be a rancher’s wife before her real identity is revealed?
Nathan Hale has had it with his children but still loves them. He misses the feel of a woman and the help from them. So it comes as a surprise that he is marrying again. His last marriage wasn’t so good but his ex-wife did give him beautiful children. Something about Angel shows she is not what she sounded in the letters that passed between them. He knows it’s too soon to marry but Angel has this fresh of breath air he needs right now. Each time he tries to make sense of what is happening between them she does something to make him realize that she may be a fraud. Just when he could find out the truth the real person between the letters comes in. Can he give Angel a chance when she gave him a chance at finding love again?
This is the first I have read from Callie Hutton and have to say I loved it. The whole concept is the same as others but something about these two characters grab your heart. I loved that even though she didn’t know one bit of housework Angel gave it her all and accomplished it. Nate is one man who can love easily but keeps his heart guarded afraid of feeling pain and heartache again. These two together complement each other yet also make each other grow with each other’s strengths. All in all Callie Hutton did a beautiful job in showing us that with willpower and love anything is possible including a second chance at love.
