Review- Georgia On My Mind

Since Georgie Quinn’s mother died after a brief battle with breast cancer, the highlight of her life has become “jogger stalking” every morning with her roommates Tess and Cat. Stuck running the senior center her mother founded in Newport, RI, until a replacement director is found, Georgie dreams of returning to her glamorous life in Atlanta. As that life begins to unravel, she discovers a whole new one in Newport where the jogger turns out to be sexy detective and tree hugger Nathan Caldwell. Determined to get her mind off her many problems—including a possible threat to her own health—Georgie indulges in what she intends to be a no-holds-barred one-night stand with Nathan. Unfortunately, Nathan has other ideas and sets out to have a relationship with her. Tess, on the run from an abusive husband, and Cat, who raised her younger brother and sister, hook up with Nathan’s brothers, Ben, an injured Iraqi war veteran, and Ian, a single-father and talented musician. Add a zany cast of seniors who seem determined to drive Georgie slowly mad with their never-ending needs and comparisons to her sainted mother, and you’ve got the ingredients for a fast-paced, often comical, emotional journey that leads Georgie straight to the home of her heart.

My Thoughts: Marie Force does it again! She creates an emotional, sexy, wonderful story that draws the readers in. She  has a way of creating characters that make the reader fall in love with them instantly. Add in plenty of conflict, drama, and heartache, and you've got a beautiful contemporary love story. Georgia On My Mind is no different.  Set in Rhode Island, this story features Georgie Quinn. She's at a rough place in her life. She's uprooted herself from her home and a job she loves in Atlanta to help out with a senior center her mother ran before she died. Georgie wasn't about to let it all fall apart, so she's taking over until a replacement can be found. Georgie doesn't expect this to last long, nor does she realize just how much her life is going to change while being there.

She and her two roommates, Cat and Tess, find themselves gawking over a hot guy that goes for a jog in the morning. The three women find a common bond, and become fast friends. Each have their own sordid pasts, but each are an important part of the story.

Then, on a pretty bad day, Georgia comes face to face with Mr. Hottie. In fact, he kind of yells at her about something. (You want to know what, read the book and find out!) He feels terrible about it, and that starts off a new chain of events. Nate is instantly attracted to Georgie, but she's got a wall up. No need to get involved, she says. Why? She isn't going to be here for long.

Not only do readers get Georgie and Nate's story, but both Cat and Tess will find happiness, too. With Nate's brother, in fact!  I was surprised at how the author paired up the couples, but then again, it made for quite a bit of conflict and intrigue.  There's moments in this story that will have your emotions on fire, plenty of hot sex, and some tearful moments. It's emotionally touching, is both a story of love, friendship, and self discovery.

If you love contemporary stories with characters that are near and dear to your heart, breathe life right off the pages, and not to mention the sexual tension that's bound to be toe curling, then don't miss this book. In fact, don't miss any of Marie Force's heartfelt books.
