AQUA Alaskan Nights

Blurb:

After losing her job, Hayley struggles to make ends meet and allows her career status to define her. She finds inspiration in successful photographer Trevor Tott, but their professional aspirations clash when she experiences his questionable ethics along with unwanted advances from her overbearing boss. With the help of the ship's crew, stunning Alaskan backdrops and a leap of faith, they might find business can be mixed with pleasure.
With cameos from favourite Aqua characters Harry and Casey, Amanda Jones weaves a plot that keeps the pages turning.
Love happens on The Aqua…
Have you jumped in yet? The Aqua series is the ongoing story of the cruise ship Aqua, where crew members such as Chef Amber and Captain Hallmann appear frequently, and other favourites, such as Harry and Casey, make cameo appearances. With each book in the series, the familiar characters and their stories grow and weave cleverly together. You’ll meet Hayley and Trevor again in books for the upcoming Alaskan and Caribbean series as well. Read along the entire series to get to know and understand the cruise ship, its passengers and regular crew members.

Please Help me welcome Amanda S Jones for an interview!

Tell me about yourself, and your writing.
-This series is a dream of mine. I find love is what makes the world go round and wanted to combine that with my love of food and travel.

How long have you been writing? How many published books do you have, and what genres?
-I’ve been writing for a while but they’ve always sat in a drawer or a computer file. Now, I have 4 books in my first series. I’m writing in the romance genre right now.

Do you write in multiple genres or just one? If just one, do you ever consider straying outside your genre?
-Right now, I just write romance. I have thought of straying outside of my genre. I have a second series I’m working on right now and then I’m thinking of writing fantasy. But there’s a romance genre for fantasy so it might straddle both ;)

Are you a plotter or do you write from the seat of your pants?
-I have a basic premise, but other than the basic “what if” question, I write from the seat of my pants! I’ve tried plotting but I find I get bogged down with the details and the story grinds to a halt and I get blocked.

What is a typical writing day like for you?
-I like to write first thing in the morning. The day isn’t filled with issues and distractions yet and I can step into my character’s world for a while. I typically try and write one new scene each day. The most difficult thing for me is stepping away from my writing to get into the rest of my life! Often I’m so pulled into my character’s life that I just want to stay there...

Who do you love to read? Favorite authors, favorite books?
-There are so many and interestingly enough, they’re not all in the romance genre. I like to read literary fiction, historical fiction and fantasy, but I've fallen in love with books from most genres at one time or another. What I find surprising though, is that romance filters into everything. I recently read “A Sense of Wonder” by Ann Patchett, which I loved. Romance was woven into the main plot in a surprising way.

What is something you'd like to accomplish in your writing career next year?
-By that start of 2015, I will have 5-6 books in my Aqua series published - the Caribbean is the next destination that the Aqua will sail to. I will continue to write this series and also publish a cookbook based on Chef Amber’s recipes. I will also be starting a new series as well.

If you could have one paranormal ability, what would it be?
-To read people’s minds.

If you could keep a mythical/ paranormal creature as a pet, what would you have?
-A Dragon! There’s always a sexy prince that comes to slay it ;)

Tell us a little about your latest release.
-The latest release is from my romance series, Aqua. Each story in the series stands on its own, but the more you read along the entire series, the more you get to know and understand the cruise ship, its passengers and regular crew members. With each book in the series, the familiar characters and their stories grow and weave together more and more and you get to know characters intimately over a number of books. The series also covers my love of travel and love of food. I'm fascinated by the power food holds over all of our senses. I want readers to be hungry for love and for food, and to realize how the two go so well together, after reading the book.

In Alaskan Nights, Hayley has just lost her job, and while struggling to make ends meet, she allows her career status to define her. She finds inspiration in a successful photographer, Trevor Tott, but their professional aspirations clash when she experiences his questionable ethics along with unwanted advances from her overbearing boss. With the help of the ship's crew, stunning Alaskan backdrops and a leap of faith, Hayley touches upon her own self worth, and, finds business can be mixed with pleasure ;)

In this latest book, I've even had two of the favourite characters from my first book, Venetian Nights, return for a cameo appearance. And you’ll meet the characters from this fourth book in the series, Hayley and Trevor, in all upcoming books for the Alaskan and Caribbean series as well.

What is something that you absolutely can't live without? (Other than family members)
-My notebook. I know we’re in a digital world but there’s something about putting a pen to paper at first when jotting down ideas.

Could you ever co author a book with someone? If so, who would you choose, and what would you write?
-I’ve never thought of it but I’d love to co-write with Melissa Gilbert. She’s such a positive and bubbly personality that I think it would be lots of fun. And, the book she’s most known for focused on food, love and travel so we’d be a great match!

If you could spend a day with anyone from history, dead or alive, who would it be, and what would you do? What would you ask them?
-I would spend time with Lady Di. I’d want to walk inside the castle walls and hear what really happened!

What are some of your other hobbies outside of writing?
-I love travelling. Plain and simple :)

If you were on the staff to have a book adapted to movie, what would you pick?
-Hmmm. Trying to think of one that hasn’t been done yet!

What is a talent you wish you had, but don’t?
-I’d love to play the saxophone! I’ve always loved that instrument and find the music so soothing and sexy.

Favorite color?
-Turquoise

Weather: Hot or cold?
-Hot, especially on a tropical island ;)

Favorite place to read?
-Bathtub

Favorite meal
-Anything with chocolate!

Favorite non-alcoholic drink.
-Chai tea

If you could travel anywhere and do anything, no limits or money holding you back, where would you go?
-The moon!
