What happens when fire meets ice? Not what you might think.
The Journey of the Princess of Ice- The Elementals a graphic fantasy romance
by LaVerne Thompson
From the moment She entered the room, Arch tracked her movement, curious about her. When the young wizard at the bar had spoken to her, he found himself rising off the chair, wanting to rip his head off. He had to lower himself back into the seat and force himself to relax. Soon, the notes of a horn filled the room from the music box and the female took the dance floor. Her back was to him but she pushed the hood off her hair and shook out her frozen tresses. The organ in his chest sped up to push more fire through his blood. An ice maiden! Fucking impossible!
Her kind had been gone from the realms for centuries. But the icicles hanging off the end of her waist-length blue and silver hair said otherwise. When she began to sway, he forgot about everything else. The sight of her hips moving from side to side completely mesmerized him. When she turned to face him, he damn near shot his seed into the leather pants he wore. Bad enough his dick strained against the confines of its restrictions, causing him pain. So that’s what she had hidden under that coat. Curves where a woman should curve and a waist tiny enough for his hands to span from tip to tip.
“Damn,” he whispered under his breath. “Surprise, surprise.”
He could only sit back and enjoy the show. The pleasure she took in her movements brought a smile to his face. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d felt a real smile, if ever, at least one born of pure joy instead of vicious glee. She stopped after only two songs, and it wasn’t until she sat down he realized although the tavern had become more crowded while she danced, instead of the place heating up, she cooled it down. An ice princess, indeed.
The male she sat near leaned closer to her to say something and Arch shot to his feet. What the hells was he doing? Instead of marching over there and ripping the bastard’s heart out, he left the bar and walked out into the evening. Stopping on the sidewalk, he took a few deep breaths of the night air to get his temperature down. He didn’t dare glance back at the entrance to the tavern for fear he’d go back inside and beat the little shit for talking to a woman he didn’t know.
Arch shook his head and walked in the direction of the inn where he was staying. His thoughts were on the strange inhabitants of the tavern but one in particular, who intrigued him. Who would have thought icicles could turn him on? He wondered if his heat would melt the ice coating her hair, and would it be soft to his touch when he did? He already knew he would find out.
He couldn’t remember the last time he’d had a woman. It was not his nature to deny himself, but they’d been running for awhile now and he missed lying amidst the softness a female provided. A respite from his flight. The ice princess seemed to be one of the regulars at in the bar; he might have to become one too. The next time he saw her he’d have her, he promised himself. And he never made a promise he didn’t keep. Arch had gone a few blocks from the bar when the disturbance in the air from cool to hot behind him provided his only warning. He spun around in time to see a hells gate open, flames rising up from the ground to lick at the air and three Furia, hells guardians, step through.
Thank you :) Here's mine from Son of Dragons Book 2 Legends of Oblivion series: Clean from the bath, Landon let the air from the open window dry his hair. Dressed only in trousers, he leaned against the windowsill. He thought he smelled the hint of roses and heat on the breeze. Movement from the street below caught his eye. He leaned out, squinting into the night. Torches lined the cobbled street corners. A cloaked figure waited. Then the innkeeper rushed outside. His hands flew in gestures as the figure nodded. Then he pointed to the window where Landon watched. At the same instant, the cloaked figure followed his finger’s path to Landon. Green eyes that seemed to glow met his. Landon jumped up and cursed when his head hit the bottom of the window. When he looked back, both figures were gone. Still, he couldn’t stop thinking about those piercing emerald eyes. They’d belonged to a woman; he could tell. There was intelligence and cunning in them. Her stare felt as though she saw through the façade he often wore as prince and to please others, and into his kajh. A woman who was not afraid, but used to being feared. It unnerved him, yet excited him. His pulse quickened and his loins tightened at the thought of those eyes filled with passion for him.

Glenda hefted her bag onto her shoulder. The red ski jacket set off her cool complexion and green eyes. “How was the drive up with Mikhail? Or should I even ask?”
The Green Mile, while watching the Exorcist and trying not to scream with a mug of hot coffee in her hands.

Do you believe in karma? Annie Furman has a gift that allows her, while she sleeps, to visit people in their time of need - but who will be there for her when she needs help? Undersheriff Dave Turner is investigating a series of home invasions and homicides. He has no idea that solving this case will lead him to the woman of his dreams.
excerpt:
Tears streaked down her cheeks and left lines on her soot stained cheeks. I rested my hand on hers and hoped she felt at least a little bit of comfort. The children were safe, she made sure of that. I let her know I admired her bravery. She appreciated the compliment, for just a moment, and then fear grabbed her again.
She stood again and tried to shake the bars free from the window. Safety bars. Those bars were meant to keep evil out and now all they did was trap her in. Luckily the little ones could squeeze between the wrought iron rods and she dropped them to horrified bystanders on the street. She understood that there was no way she could escape, but she was determined to save the children. One by one she made sure that her charges would be alright, they were safe. And now it was time for her to die, but now the fear of how she would suffer terrified her.
Coughs seized her body as she sank back down to the floor and cried some more. Flames were licking the walls. There wasn’t much time left. We were both scared, but I knew I had no reason to fear for myself.
We could hear the sirens of the approaching fire trucks, but there wasn’t time. Her eyes were haunted as she looked at me and I prayed that the smoke would claim her before the flames. My prayers were answered. I sat still and stroked her limp hand and felt so sad that the girl’s last minutes were filled with terror.
As the burning ceiling above us sent flaming stalactites raining down, I knew she was at peace.
Lone Wolf Rising book one in the Winters Saga excerpt:
A shiver ran down her spine. Assassins, the word hit a chord deep inside. Lucky hinted at it before Rebecca confronted Sundae about it in the bathroom, but hearing him talk about this with such a grave expression on his face made it more real. The idea was creepy but made logical sense in a weird, supernatural way. Rebecca shook her head in an attempt to clear her mind. The random thoughts of concern seemed to pile on top of each other. Before she chose to be a werewolf the biggest problem she had was finding ways to avoid depression every night. Now she had enemies she never knew existed, a fake boyfriend who was pretending not to be a bodyguard, a family that hid the fact that they were powerful witches, a group of rogue wolves who wanted to rejoin the pack, a pack that she was now Alpha of, and not to mention she also had someone spying on her from afar. The last thing she needed to worry about was a sleep assassin. "I’ll be careful." She promised. The mood had suddenly taken a solemn tone and she decided she needed to lighten it with a fun change of subject. "So why did you punch Gabriel?" "Why did he kiss you?" The intensity in the look he gave her made her wonder if he thought she’d invited the kiss. "I had nothing to do with his decision to kiss me." She put up three fingers and said, "Scouts honor." The memory of the intense feelings his kiss ignited inside her began bubbling up inside her and she had a sneaking suspicion her wolf had something to do with the sudden flooding of feelings. ‘Traitor!’ Rebecca snapped in her mind. The wolf simply laughed playfully. "But you enjoyed it, didn't you?" “No!” She answered quickly, which got her raised eyebrows from Lucky. ‘Yes.’ The wolf smiled in her mind. And there was the question Rebecca was dreading. She planned to make fun over the punch not get on the topic of Gabriel’s kiss. She shook her head. "It wasn't me that enjoyed it." She didn't know how to explain this to him, but she knew she needed to try. "Come on, Becca. I heard you." Betrayal played in his eyes as he continued his path towards class. "It’s my wolf. She’s attracted to him. Not me." Rebecca took his arm and spun him towards her. "I know we’re using this 'fake' relationship as a cover. I’m not stupid! But I can't change my attraction and desire for you. And ever since that kiss last night all I can think about is doing this." She reached up and pulled his head to hers, crushing her lips to his, desperate to show him her need. His lips were like stone for a moment, but he lost all resolve when her hands sank into his silky hair at the nape of his neck. He deepened the kiss with a growl of frustration as his hand wound around her waist and pulled her against him. She was thankful the halls were empty in that moment, but if they weren't everything would have simply faded away. In that moment it was only them, the rest of the world stood still. Their size difference made it hard to get closer, so he lifted her up slightly and she wrapped her legs around his waist as he pressed her against the wall. When his tongue slipped into her mouth she felt the moan escape and his groan in response only pulled her further into the kiss. He pulled back and shook his head. "This can't keep happening." @2014 copyright Jami Brumfield

Here are the opening paragraphs to my Book with No title - WIP. I'll come up with a title by publication time. (I hope) It's an erotic romance.
Droplets of blood seeped from Damien's wolf tattoo, mesmerizing him. They trickled over the inside of his bicep then splattered drop by drop against the bar floor Why was the wolf bleeding? Dairen frowned. Maybe it wasn't the tattoo. Could he be bleeding? He didn't remember getting hurt. But that might be because he'd had too many shots of vodka. Expensive gold infused vodka. An order snapped out in Thai ripped his focus away from the cost of the booze. Stumbling with the translation, his gut clenched. "Check everyone. Anybody alive. Kill them." A shrill female scream. A gun shot. Silence. That'd be one of the hookers. Damn. Hope it wasn't the one with the butterfly tattoo above her clit. She had a mouth on her than performed miracles. Dude! WTF! Must be the vodka talking. Stay focused. There are guys with guns out there. Darien stretched his neck and peered around the edge of the bar. In his line of vision, a male leg stuck out from under a table. Expensive looking shoe. Presumably Italian leather. Probably belonged to Nai Jâhng. Darien raised his eyebrows. Wow. Somebody had the balls to kill The Boss. He shifted his glance. A few feet to the left, lay a female arm with brilliant orange fingernails. He shivered at the remembrance of those nails grazing his balls. He focused on a tiny object a foot in front of him. Glass. Shards of it lay scattered about. He blinked and tried to remember what happened. He'd walked behind the club's bar to get another bottle of vodka when bottles started exploding one by one. And then he was on the floor looking at the blood dripping from his tattoo. He glanced at his wound. The bleeding had stopped. Okay, so he wasn't gonna bleed to death. Good. Now he just had to get his ass outta here. Past them. The guys with the guns. How the hell could he do that?
Vampire Princess Rising book two in the Winters Saga excerpt:
“You’re very pretty.” He smiled warmly.
“Really? Because after this whole experience I was beginning to think I wasn’t good enough to be a princess,” she snapped coldly.
“Vampires are big on ritual and expectations. You’re perfect in my book. However, as a royal you’re expected to be beyond perfect. Higher standards are placed upon you.” He turned those unique violet eyes on her, eyes that reminded her of her father. “Your life depends on acting the part, especially now that we’re officially engaged.”
Savannah folded her arms at her chest. “I don’t consider us engaged, officially.”
“Really? Why is that?”
This man was clueless. She exhaled a frustrated breath out and watched as her bangs played in the uncommon breeze. “An engagement, in my book, consists of a man getting down on one knee and asking. This…” she waved her hand in impatience “…is all formality and protection. Where is the romance, the tingles, the earth shattering kisses, the mind boggling make out sessions…?”
Savannah was so wrapped up in her wish list that she didn’t even notice Viktor had gotten down on one knee until Martina dropped the items in her hands and screamed.
“What are you doing? Get up!” Savannah looked around at everyone staring at them. Vampires were not allowed to draw attention to themselves in public settings.
“It may not be the perfect romance…but you will teach me what I need to do.” He pulled out a ring box from the breast pocket of his elegant sports jacket and held it out. “Savannah Ariel Matthews Winters you intrigue me immensely and I cannot wait to spend forever getting to know you better. Would you do me the honor of becoming my bride?”
Her heart fluttered. It wasn’t the speech she imagined, but it wasn’t bad. She looked around, camera phones were rolling. Oh hell! She tried to hide the eye roll. They were on stage now. Appearances were of the utmost importance. “Yes.” She had no choice but to say it.
“What was that?” he asked with a grin on his face. He heard her, he was a vampire.
“Yes, I will marry you,” she said louder so everyone could hear.
The grin that broke out across his face was brilliant. He stood up and wrapped his arms around her waist, lifted her up into an embrace, and spun them around. “That was the first and only time I will ever do that,” he whispered against her ear. “Now we are officially engaged.” The smile didn’t leave his face when he put her down.
He moved closer, placing his hands on her slender hips tentatively. Then with a jerk he pulled her against him, weaving a spell around her senses. He moved his lips close to hers, so close but not touching. One hand moved up her spine to her neck. Tingles shot a trail up and a blush crept onto her cheeks as his body gave away his desire to claim her. “May I kiss you now?” His fingers tangled into the hair at the nape of her neck and lifted her lips toward his, still not touching.
She was so wrapped up in the spell he was weaving that she almost missed his question. “Savannah, I won’t kiss you until you give me permission.”
He had somehow managed to turn a business arrangement into something more in a matter of minutes. His lips brushed so close to her skin she felt herself light up without a touch. His other hand raised up and gently tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her ear, then caressed her cheek. “May I?”
“Yes.” Her word came out breathlessly, but he heard her. The smirk that spread across his lips was unsettling but she gave little thought to it when his lips touched hers. Gentle at first and then he deepened the kiss and possessed her mouth with his. She was vaguely aware of the cheers in the background as he continued to assault her senses with a mixture of tenderness and possessiveness. As far as earth shattering kisses goes, he got a gold star.

My soon to be release NA contemporary romance- A Guy and A Girl - opening paragraphs. Tweeted. :-)
"Chelsea." Kendall nudged her friend in the ribs. "Is that one of your dad's guys?" "Who? Him? No way. He's just a hockey wannabe. Ooh. Check the two getting out of the cab." Chelsea giggled. "I love the day before training camp starts. It's guy heaven." "Shift your eyes right." Kendall placed her finger on Chelsea's chin and pushed. "Check the butt on that one." The male object of their fantasies reached into the trunk of a cab, turned, and dropped a huge equipment bag on the ground. He shifted and pulled out a smaller duffel bag, which he slung over his shoulder. After tossing money to the driver, he hoisted the first bag onto his back and headed into the building. "Oh my." Chelsea blinked. "I can just see the report on that one. Over six feet tall, weighing in at some solid heart-melting weight. This player is best known for his scoring and seduction of the coach's daughter." "Has your dad, even once in all the years he's been Vipers' coach, let you near a player?" Chelsea winked. "There's always a first time, and no time like the present." She headed towards the main entrance. "Let's go." Hooking her fingers onto the belt on Chelsea's jeans, Kendall pulled her back. "You mean in there? Your dad'll kill us if he catches us. And if he doesn't then my mom will." "Kendall, keep the vision of that guy's butt in your mind and follow me." Chelsea grabbed her friend's wrist and pulled her towards the arena.

(I hope)
ReplyDeleteIt's an erotic romance.
Droplets of blood seeped from Damien's wolf tattoo, mesmerizing him. They trickled over the inside of his bicep then splattered drop by drop against the bar floor
Why was the wolf bleeding? Dairen frowned. Maybe it wasn't the tattoo. Could he be bleeding? He didn't remember getting hurt. But that might be because he'd had too many shots of vodka.
Expensive gold infused vodka.
An order snapped out in Thai ripped his focus away from the cost of the booze.
Stumbling with the translation, his gut clenched. "Check everyone. Anybody alive. Kill them."
A shrill female scream. A gun shot.
ReplyDelete“You’re very pretty.” He smiled warmly.

ReplyDeleteTweeted. :-)
"Chelsea." Kendall nudged her friend in the ribs. "Is that one of your dad's guys?"
"Who? Him? No way. He's just a hockey wannabe. Ooh. Check the two getting out of the cab." Chelsea giggled. "I love the day before training camp starts. It's guy heaven."
"Shift your eyes right." Kendall placed her finger on Chelsea's chin and pushed. "Check the butt on that one."
The male object of their fantasies reached into the trunk of a cab, turned, and dropped a huge equipment bag on the ground.
This player is best known for his scoring and seduction of the coach's daughter."
"Has your dad, even once in all the years he's been Vipers' coach, let you near a player?"
Chelsea winked. "There's always a first time, and no time like the present." She headed towards the main entrance. "Let's go."
Hooking her fingers onto the belt on Chelsea's jeans, Kendall pulled her back. "You mean in there? Your dad'll kill us if he catches us. And if he doesn't then my mom will."
"Kendall, keep the vision of that guy's butt in your mind and follow me." Chelsea grabbed her friend's wrist and pulled her towards the arena.
