Please help me welcome Lori Ryan to the blog for an interview!
Tell
me about yourself, and your writing.
I’m
a mom, a writer, wife, and lover of chocolate and coffee.
How
long have you been writing? How many published books do you have, and
what genres?
I
only began writing in December of 2013, so I’m coming up on my one
year “anniversary.” I’ve got four books out now and have a new
one I’m putting out at the end of January. All are contemporary
romances with a twist of suspense and danger to them.
Do
you write in multiple genres or just one? If just one, do you ever
consider straying outside your genre?
Right
now, I’m having a lot of fun with the romantic suspense stuff, but
I may try some straight contemporary romance at some point. I don’t
think I’d rule anything out at this point. That’s one of the cool
things about writing: you get to be creative and try new things
whenever you want!
Are
you a plotter or do you write from the seat of your pants?
Heavy
plotter, but then it all changes as I go along.
What
is a typical writing day like for you?
My
son goes to school in the morning so I write from about 9:30 am to
1:30 pm. If I’m in that crunch time in the last few weeks of
getting a book turned around from draft to finished product, I’ll
write at night also.
Who
do you love to read? Favorite authors, favorite books?
I
really have so many, it’s hard to name even a few. I love small
town romances so Susan Mallery and Robyn Carr are favorites there.
When I want humor, I turn to Penny Reid and Jill Shalvis. If I want
heat and sexy military men, I go to Kaylea Cross or Suzanne
Brockmann.
What
is something you'd like to accomplish in your writing career next
year?
I
somehow managed to get four books out this year and I hope to do that
again! There’s always pressure to get new books out there for
readers, while at the same time making sure the quality stays high.
I’m honestly not sure how I did this year. It’s a little daunting
when I try to plan out a schedule. I’ll try, though!
If
you could keep a mythical/ paranormal creature as a pet, what would
you have?
Who
wouldn’t answer “unicorn” to that?
Tell
us a little about your latest release.
Negotiation
Tactics is my favorite book so far in the Sutton Capital Series. It
was a blast to write and, so far readers seem to be loving it. I love
the characters – Chad and Jennie. They definitely deserve their
HEA!
What
is something that you absolutely can't live without? (Other than
family members)
Coffee,
but really, who can?
Could
you ever co author a book with someone? If so, who would you choose,
and what would you write?
I
don’t know. I think it would be tough to meld creative style and
make it come together as a cohesive product, but since plenty of
writers manage it, I guess I could if I put my mind to it. There are
a lot of people I’d want to do it with if the opportunity came up,
but I’m not sure I’d feel worthy of it with most of them!
If
you could spend a day with anyone from history, dead or alive, who
would it be, and what would you do? What would you ask them?
Wonder
Woman. I’d want to fly on her invisible jet and borrow the awesome
wristbands.
What
are some of your other hobbies outside of writing?
Reading;)
If
you were on the staff to have a book adapted to movie, what would you
pick?
Real.
I bet they make that one into a movie someday!
What
is a talent you wish you had, but don't?
Cooking.
The whole house still reeks of burned stew from last night’s
dinner.
Favorite
color?
Purple.
Weather:
Hot or cold?
Hot.
We live in Texas, but I’m thinking of moving the family to a warmer
climate.
Favorite
place to read?
Does
it matter? I have Kindle for iPhone! Anywhere and everywhere would be
my answer, I guess.

BLURB:
Fans
of the Sutton Capital Series have been waiting for Jennie and Chad’s
story for a long time and they won’t be disappointed! And, new
readers are sure to fall in love with the series.
After
the crushing heartache of losing her husband at a harshly young age,
Jennie Evans had finally found a place to call home. She had a job
she loved and new friends to support her. With the exception of
having to continuously fight off the feelings she had for Chad
Thompson, she was happy again. As happy as she could be anyway. When
Jennie’s well-meaning friends meddle in her life, they send her
world into a tailspin once again. Soon, she’s on the run from some
very dangerous people with the one man she doesn’t want to be with.
Chad
Thompson has loved Jennie from afar for the last year, but he’s
maintained control. Jennie’s made it clear she wants nothing to do
with him and he won’t cross the line she’s drawn in the sand.
Until she asks him to. And, when that happens, their world is turned
upside down. Chad’s left scrambling to keep Jennie safe as he tries
to right their world again. Unfortunately, Chad has to accept the
fact that his heart is likely to be crushed in the process and
nothing will ever be the same again.

Excerpt
Jack
laughed at Chad’s frown. “Hey, get yourself a wife and you won’t
miss us so much.”
“Funny.”
Chad scowled as the men picked up their bags and started toward the
exit.
Jack and
Andrew got quiet and Chad groaned inside. He knew what was coming.
Can’t
everyone drop the whole Jennie and Chad thing?
He had
barely managed to get the image of Jennie in a T-shirt with no bra,
out of his head for the last hour of the basketball game and now they
had to put it front and center again without even mentioning her
name. That sight had plagued him for two damn days and he wasn’t
likely to get over it anytime soon.
“Chad,
you really need to see where this thing with Jennie might go. Have
you even been on a date with anyone else since you met her?” Jack
asked.
They
crossed the parking lot toward their cars, but it was clear Jack and
Andrew were going to stay until he gave them an answer. Chad didn’t
want to tell Jack the answer to that question and he didn’t want to
have this conversation with Jack and Andrew again. As far as they
knew, he didn’t want to date Jennie because he was her boss at
Sutton Capital. And, that was part of it, but Chad hadn't told anyone
the truth.
