VBT Review: Price of a Kiss

Price of a Kiss
By: Linda Kage

Blurb

I don’t care what my cousin says; I am not the queen of impossible relationships. I mean, just because my last boyfriend tried to kill me and left a bit of a scar on my neck, then forced me to move across the country and legally change my name to Reese Randall to escape him, does not mean—

Oh, who am I kidding? For a freshman in college, I have to have the worst dating track record ever.

It’s no wonder love is the last thing on my mind when Mason Lowe enters my life. But the chemistry between us is like bam! Our connection defies logic. And he’s just so freaking hot. Being around him makes me feel more alive than I’ve ever felt before. I even like bickering with him. He could be my soul mate...except for one teeny tiny glitch.

He's a gigolo.

Review:  Stop for a second and think about your family, and those close to you. What would you do for them? Where do you draw the line? Where WOULDN'T you draw the line?  How far would you go to keep the ones you love secure and safe?

Why am I asking this question, you wonder?

Well, because a character in this story does something that is frowned upon by many. it's not an admirable occupation, and while you or I may never understand it, that person felt like they had no other choice.

Price of a Kiss surpassed all my expectations. The first chapter threw me for a loop, set the tone for how I was feeling and I'm like...I'm not sure how this is going to pan out, but it intrigued me for sure.  After that initial first chapter, the book started out slightly on the slow side, but I'm SO glad I stuck with it.

Young Reese is starting over. Hiding out. Being safe. She's not on the market to look for a man, nor does she really want to. But one shows up in her line of view anyway that changes everything.

Ahh, Mason. The gigolo. Now who in the WORLD would have thought I'd enjoy a character that was a gigolo? Remember what I said about expectations?  Despite his reputation, Mason is a good guy. He cares about his mom and especially his younger sister, who is disabled and requires some care. I have to say right off the bat that I love Mason's interaction with his sister. He loves her unconditionally and would do anything for her.

I love that he and Reese become good friends. Their banter cracks me up! Mason becomes a different person since meeting Reese, and he shows a side of himself that no one else gets to see. Everyone looks the other way when it comes to Mason and his reputation, but the talk sure does fire up some controversy.

Price of a Kiss is full of laughs, and I'll admit a few times I teared up especially by something Mason says when he and Reese are spending time together. It touched my heart!  I am stunned at just how much this book affected me!

There are some touchy subjects in here, but I looked so far past that and enjoyed this story immensely.
