Spotlight: Prophecy's Child By Brenda Dyer

I can't tell you how absolutely excited I am to be posting this today!  Last year, Brenda Dyer debuted her first paranormal romance with Love's Prophecy. Brenda went on my list of 2012's debut authors to watch because that book blew me away. I don't read that many vampire romance stories these days, but Ms. Dyer has brought me back into the genre. Her stories are filled with intense emotion an edge of your seat action. It has been a long time coming, but I'm proud to say that the next book has just been released!  I'm going to introduce you to Ms. Dyer's books and if you've read her already you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

I'm also holding a giveaway for Love's Prophecy. One lucky commenter will get a Smashwords code for a free copy of Love's Prophecy so you can have the format of your choice.

First off, here's the blurb and info for Love's Prophecy:

BLURB:

In the depth of time...

Lucifer vowed to destroy humans and take the Earth from The Creator. In secret, vampires were brought about to thwart Lucifer's plan. Locked in a battle centuries old, vampires guarded The Creator's children against annihilation from demons. But the era of a new breed of warrior needed to turn the tides of war has come. The time for the fulfillment of the Vampire Prophecy begins.

Dark warriors of might...

For Mel, a deadly vampire warrior sworn to hunt and kill demons in the dark streets of Vancouver, the mystery surrounding the Vampire Prophecy deepens when he meets Breeana, a human woman who not only bears the mark of the prophecy, but resembles the unknown woman haunting his dreams. A powerful link pulls him to her, overriding his willpower to stay away. When a vengeful demon spies Breeana in his arms, she is marked for death. To protect her, he must take her from the world she knows until he can eliminate the threat. But the real danger is the role Breeana must play in fulfilling the prophecy and the intense feelings she brings out in him. Mel is forced to choose between his obligations to his kind, the world, and the woman he loves.

Small warriors of light...

Veterinarian, Dr. Breeana Spencer is tired of being disappointed by love. Although love and a family is her greatest desire, she decides her career, friends, and romance novels are all she needs. But when she meets a mysterious stranger, she's drawn to him by a connection so forceful it shatters all reason, leaving her incapable of resisting him. Yet there's more to him than smoldering good looks and a rock-hard body. As she's drawn deeper into his danger-filled world, she learns she's part of an ancient vampire legend. Breeana fears her future is no longer hers and will not include Mel. A life altering choice is before her—one that will take all her courage and love to make.

BOOK 2: Prophecy's Child

PROPHECY'S CHILD BLURB:

Katherine Colby’s life splintered ten years ago when her lover suddenly vanished, leaving her with more than a broken heart. But when Kal unexpectedly makes an appearance, her safe, dependable existence is shattered once more. Drawn into Kal’s deadly world of vampires and demons, she must now put aside her hurt and anger and learn to trust him. Can she forgive past deceptions and find the courage to love again? Or will she turn away the one man who owns her heart and soul?

Her secret will change his life.

Powerful, and lethal, Kal is a vampire warrior, sworn to protect humans from demons. Loving Katherine too much to pull her into his dangerous world, Kal deserted her, believing his decision was best for them both. But not even time could assuage his yearning for the woman who has captured his heart. As fate tosses them together once again, Kal must fight to win Katherine’s trust and forgiveness before evil separates them forever. But is he ready to become the man she needs him to be? Or will he lose the one woman he can’t live without?

Kal widened his stance, and folded his arms. “Don’t bother telling me you didn’t enjoy what happened a moment ago, because I know better.” He licked his lips. The taste of her sweetness made his erection twitch painfully. “I can still taste how much you…took pleasure in it.”
Katherine’s cheeks turned as pink as the roses in the room, but her brown eyes stayed fixed on him. “I’m not denying I…enjoyed what happened. That’s not why I’m pissed off.”
“Care to fill me in?”
Like a queen addressing her court, Katherine looked down her nose at him and said in voice filled with ice, “Can you explain to me why you have a tattoo of me naked on your back for the entire world to see?”
The tattoo. Shit, he’d forgotten about it. He smiled and relaxed his posture.
She marched over to him with the ends of the comforter balled in her fists. “This isn’t funny.”
He fought to hide his grin, but instead chuckled. “The entire world? Sure, I have a killer body.” He flexed, making his pecs jerk and dance, then he flexed both biceps. “And I have massive guns.” He winked at her. “But I do like to wear clothes sometimes—it gets pretty cold, ya know.”
Her head dipped, but not before he saw her smile. “Will you be serious, please?”
“Okay.” Was he really going to let her know what a pathetic geek he was?
Yep.
“Have a seat.” He guided her to the bed with a hand on the small of her back.
Katherine eyed him warily before sitting. The comforter slipped, reveling one of her long legs. His gaze traveled up the creamy expanse of flesh and muscle to her thigh.
She cleared her throat and flipped the blanket over her bare limb.
The pressure in his pants increased, and his body vibrated with sexual hunger and bloodlust.
He’d come close to biting her earlier, but somehow he’d wrestled that urge until he won control. But it was back with a vengeance.
Shit.
Needing space, he shoved the condom into the pocket of his jeans and moved to the dresser. In the top drawer, he rummaged through boxer shorts and socks until he found the picture. He brought it over to the bed and handed it her. While she gazed at the framed photo, he sat next to her. Her natural lemony scent mixed with her strawberry perfume or lotion, and under that, he caught the sweet bouquet of her arousal.
All combined, adding more temptation to his already battered willpower.
Kal focused his mind on the night he’d taken the picture. “Do you remember the night I took this photo?”
She nodded, but a wall of long hair blocked his view of her face.
He rested his chin on her shoulder and looked at the picture. Over the years, he’d memorized every detail. But the one that stood out was the look of untainted love in her eyes. “It was the first time you said you loved me.”
“I remember,” she whispered. She traced the gilded frame with a finger. “We’d just made love. And I told you I loved you.” She chuckled. “Your reaction was to jump up and take a picture. Not the response I was looking for.”
“I had to capture the moment.” He leaned back, holding himself up with his hands. “Besides, I said and showed you how much I loved you after that.”
Katherine rested the photo against her knees and glanced his way.  The warmth in her eyes sent his heart crashing against his ribs. “Yes, you did. Many times.”
“Do you know why I had to take that picture?”
“Not really.”
“Because I wanted to freeze time and stay in that moment forever.” He picked up the picture. “When you said you loved me, I’d never been happier or felt more alive.” He stroked the line of her cheek in the photo. “Or filled with such gut-churning guilt.”
Her eyes widened. “Guilt? Why?”
Kal glanced at her. Unshed tears sparkled behind her lashes. She chewed her plump bottom lip. “Do you have any idea how perfect you are?”
“I’m not perfect—believe me.”
“Yes, you are. You’re perfect, and oh so achingly beautiful.” With the forefinger of his right hand, he caressed her brow then drew a line around her lips. “And it’s not just your face or your body. It’s your heart and soul.”
Tears spilled down her cheeks, and she drew in a ragged breath.
“You gave me the two most precious gifts a woman can give a man. Her innocence and love. And I couldn’t even give you the truth.”

  1. Thanks for the spotlight on Prophey's Child - I have to admit that I haven't had a chance to check out Love's Prophecy but I like the sound of both books. Thanks for the excerpt - I love how Kal explains why he took the picture - "capturing" the moment...that's not something I would have thought a vampire would say but it's a great line for him
