Spotlight on: Swan Story

Blurb: Soon to be married Daniel Macgregor meets mysterious beauty Sarah Mitchell on the day his father gives him a ballet company as a present. Although at first reluctant to take on responsibility, he changes his mind when he realizes Sarah dances for the same ballet company. Over the course of the production of "Swan Lake" they fall head over heels in love. Although unknown to Daniel,Sarah is cursed to turn into a swan from sunset to sunrise and only true love will break the spell. So it makes Sarah wonder, what will happen when he finds out what she is

Daniel takes a deep breath and starts to walk down the long line of dancers as Claudia watches keenly from the side. He passes Amy, Emily, Joanne and stops when he comes to the very last dancer ... Sarah.

“May I have this dance?” he asks as the crowd watches with bated breath.
Sarah answers promptly, “I’d love to!”

More murmurs are heard and Claudia glares at Daniel as he and Sarah walk to the centre. Daniel places her hand on his shoulder and puts his hand around her waist.  They look at one another as though they haven’t seen each other in years and everyone in the room notices the infatuation, Claudia included. The music begins and they start to dance. They take tentative steps that become more energetic as the music intensifies and as they move round the hall Daniel twirls her and dips her with very little effort. Claudia and others watch from the side and appear astonished by what they see.

“He is amazing!” Amy declares.

“Wonder where he picked that up?” Emily queries.

The dance continues with increasing vigour, but it’s too much for Claudia to bear and she hastily exits the hall pushing past a couple of the dancers. Sarah and Daniel continue to glide round the hall like seasoned pros, and approximately five minutes later, they end their dance with their eyes fixed on each other. Everyone in the room seems to be momentarily stunned as they neither speak nor move.

Then Robert starts to clap, closely followed by Anne; and gradually the whole room erupts into applause. Sarah looks round the room and appears amazed at the response, so she rewards them with a curtsey, but when the clock behind her chimes seven, she stands up from her curtsey with a look of dread.

Daniel notices the change and asks, “Sarah?”
She speaks quickly, “I have to go. I have to get out of here!” She immediately lets go of Daniel’s hand and rushes to the side.

 Author Bio:

My name is Priya Narendran and I have been a fan of paranormal fiction and fairy tales for years. I started writing when I was 7 years old and haven’t stopped writing since. So far I have written mainly fairy tale themed stories but I hope to branch out into paranormal romance and fantasy in the near future.  As well as writing I’m an avid film buff and my favourite films include My Fair Lady, Amadeus, Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Shining. I tend to write mainly fairy tale re-tellings mainly because I find it fascinating to look at fairy tales through a modern lens. I hope you enjoy reading these books as much as I have enjoyed writing them.
