Interview with Vicki Batman

Welcome to my blog! Today, I'm pleased to bring you an interview and spotlight on author Vicki Batman! Please help me give Vicki a nice big warm welcome to Storm Goddess!

Hi Vicki, and thanks for being my victim...err, guest today! *wink*

How long have you been writing? How many published books do you have, and what genres? I've been writing almost ten years, Fourteen stories were published by the True magazines, some by e-publishers, and some indie published, all but one are sweet and funny romances. The lone one is an erotic novella.

Who do you love to read? Favorite authors, favorite books? My all-time favorite was mystery writer, Dick Francis. I love Elizabeth George, Sue Grafton, Sophie Kinsella, Marian Keyes. The best romance I ever read was Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux.

If you could have one paranormal ability, what would it be? To be a great cook

What is something that you absolutely can't live without? A good book!

What are some of your other hobbies outside of writing? Needlepoint, play Mahjongg

What is something you've always wanted to do, but haven't done yet. Why not? Zip line, however, I am in May. So excited.

If you were on the staff to have a book adapted to movie, what would you pick? I've always thought the romantic mystery, Madam, Will You Talk?, by Mary Stewart would be a perfect movie. Set after WW2, young widow, mysterious father, missing son, and Nazis.

What is a talent you wish you had, but don't? Sing

Favorite color? RED!

Weather: Hot or cold? Hot

Favorite place to read? Anywhere

Favorite meal: Hamburger

Favorite non-alcoholic drink: diet Coke

If you could travel anywhere and do anything, no limits or money holding you back, where would you go? I would go on an around the world cruise. No packing, no cooking and lots of great places to visit.

Blurb:

When a young woman plans a romantic getaway with her boyfriend, disaster strikes, and she soon finds Mr. Right could be someone else.

Excerpt:

My boyfriend is a dirt wad. I just decided.
With a humpf, I dragged my pink tote up the narrow aisle to the plane's exit, accidentally banging it into the seats along the way. The relieving notion of being back home in Sommerville caused the tension in my chest to fade a smidgen.
A quick peek to the exit told me where Davis, my boyfriend, stood waiting for the okay from the ground crew to head out. His glance my way didn't look at all pleasant. Similar to one wrapped in disappointment with a downward tilt of his mouth.
     I didn't care much. I just decided.
The words creepjerk, moron, and “why in the hell am I still dating him??” jumbled my thoughts around. My heart pounded as anxiety ratcheted inside me again.
Maybe I shouldn’t. Maybe I should not put up with him anymore.
The deepest part of me knew I shouldn’t be with Davis Griffith Swansea, III any longer. I was just in denial. Over the past year, I’d had brief, momentary twinges of dumping him; then, he’d go and do something incredibly romantic like bring me Godiva chocolates—“I know how you love these.” Or buy me a new book by my favorite author—“I happened to see this today.” Or whisk me off to an intimate dinner à deux at the latest and greatest bistro--"I know you'll like this place."
     My head had gone stupid.

  1. Hi Vicki,

Love the interview. I can't sing either. My hubby once asked me to lip sync in church. Ha. And I'm right there with you on the cooking. I cook, but it certainly isn't what anyone would consider great. However I do like to eat, so I power through.

    1. Hi, Pam. I used to sing great in youth choir, then allergies gave me laryngitis and no more. :( Yeah, me not a great cook. I may make a cherry pie today, though. Thanks for posting.

  5. Hi, Maria! And thank you. I wish for paranormal cooking powers, kinda like the sixties show Bewitched. She'd twitch her nose and voila! food. lolol

Hi, Liese! Thank you for posting today. It is a fun story, written Hangover style-back to front.

Hi, Ella! I'm so glad you liked the excerpt and the interview. And Thank You for tweeting. Come see me again soon.

  8. Loved the interview and excerpt! Paranormal cooking powers like Bewitched would be amazing! No more prepping and etc. Instant happy kids and hubby...lol. I look forward to reading your book!

  9. Hi, Marian! That is so funny. I'm usually dead tired from a workout, I can't sing.

Hi, Mona! Thank you so much. You know how I like to write funny.

Hi, Tia! Thank you so much. When the boys were little, cooking powers would have been extremely helpful. Instead, they probably got too much fast food and cereal suppers between scouts, church choir, and sports. Officially can be labeled bad food mom. I hope you get to read San Diego or Bust and let me know what you think. I really didn't think the story would sell because of how it is written. Funny, everyone seems to like it.

  14. Great interview and congrats on your newest release!

I think you're quite brave, Vicki, to do zip lining. Not me, though. No way. Not EVER. Hate heights - can you tell? LOL!

  15. Hi, Lani! Cruises rock. For me, the most comfortable way to travel. And if you can ever do this, take an Alaskan cruise. Thank you so much, girl.

Hi, Lynda! My true confession is I live in a house of men. What they did/do, me, too. LOL. However, I do have a life is an adventure philosophy. Thus, the ziplining thingy. Besides, if my sissie can... Just sayin'. My friend used to hate amusement rides until she rode with me. I worked at a park for two years in my teens. The easiest way to get thru is to close your eyes. What you can't see happening, doesn't happen sort of thinking. She says she will ride with me any time.

Thank you so much for the compliment. Everyone is so nice to me. Must be the bad weather. lol

  19. Hi, Cara! Thank you so much, my friend. I'm so glad you like my fun stories. Isn't it great we both like the same book? I read KISA, closed the cover and thought, then reread it instantly. That has only happened one time for me. ox

  20. Vicki, that's so funny about KISA. After I finished it, I reread the last chapter immediately twice.
