Interview with Cheryl Dragon
Hi and welcome to my blog! Please give a warm welcome to Cheryl Dragon. I have Cheryl here for an interview.
Hi Cheryl, and welcome! Glad to have you with us today. Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.
First off, tell me about yourself, and your writing.
I’m an introvert who loves to write hot stuff! Generally I write short, novellas and short stories.
How long have you been writing? How many published books do you have, and what genres?
I published first in 2007. I think I’m nearing 60 books in a variety of sub genres….all are erotic romance but there is m/f, m/m, f/f, ménage, ménage +, bdsm. Most are contemporary but some are futuristic or scifi. There’s even a regency in there. But ménage and more books are what seem to be most popular with my readers.
Do you write in multiple genres or just one? If just one, do you ever consider straying outside your genre?
I generally stick to Erotic Romance and all its fun sub genres. If I had the right idea to step out into something else, and the time, I’d like to try a humorous story.
Are you a plotter or do you write from the seat of your pants?
Plotter. I need a basic outline of the external conflict so I can treat my writing like a job and not have an excuse to daydream
What is a typical writing day like for you?
I’m a morning person, up at 6am and going over emails and my plan for the day over flavored coffee. Usually I write in the mornings, break for lunch with Days of Our Lives. The afternoons is generally more errand, editing, promoting or outlining.
Who do you love to read? Favorite authors, favorite books?
I love a variety, from mysteries to regency stories. I love to sample and explore.
What is something you'd like to accomplish in your writing career next year?
In the next year, I’ll be at the Romantic Times Convention in May 2013 and writing more. I’m pretty productive so hopefully I can expand my readership and promote more to reach readers and keep putting out hot stories!
If you could have one paranormal ability, what would it be?
I’d love to be psychic so I could take advantage of opportunities and avoid the pitfalls.
If you could keep a mythical/ paranormal creature as a pet, what would you have?
Dragon!
Tell us a little about your latest release
I wanted to write about coworkers who really belonged together but held back from making a move because things were working. Both characters had trust issues in the past so the fact that they trust each other is a huge deal. It takes Madame Eve and a 1 Night Stand set up to break them from their safe world.
What is something that you absolutely can't live without? (Other than family members)
Caffeine!
Could you ever co author a book with someone? If so, who would you choose, and what would you write?
Nope, I’m way too much of a control freak.
If you could spend a day with anyone from history, dead or alive, who would it be, and what would you do? What would you ask them?
Jane Austen. I’d probably talk about her great characters!
What are some of your other hobbies outside of writing?
TV…I love good storytelling.
If you were on the staff to have a book adapted to movie, what would you pick?
I don’t think I could do that. Going from book to movie is so hard, I’d feel like I’m not doing the book justice.
What is a talent you wish you had, but don't?
Knowing what the next trend will be
Favorite color?
Green.
Weather: Hot or cold?
Cold
Favorite place to read?
In bed.
Favorite meal
Thanksgiving dinner…
Favorite non-alcoholic drink.
Diet Dr. Pepper OR Diet Coke with Lime
If you could travel anywhere and do anything, no limits or money holding you back, where would you go?
Vegas….talk about an adult playground!!
