VBT: Review: Demon Hunt

Demon Hunt
by Christine Ashworth

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Tribred Gregor Caine decided long ago to deny his blood legacy, so he isn’t thrilled when paired with a full-blooded Fae to hunt the demons threatening to decimate Los Angeles. As they fight side by side, he finds she calls to both his Fae and his demon blood; a call he can’t resist.
Warrior Fae Serra Willows crossed into the Human Plane to help destroy the demons released from the Chaos Plane. Finding and shutting down the portal between worlds is more challenging than she expected...and Gregor and his world more seductive than she had ever imagined.
As the killings escalate, Gregor and Serra realize one of the most deadly demons from the Chaos Plane has marked Serra as his own. To save her, Gregor has to face his greatest fear—losing his humanity to the darkness in his blood. But in a race against time, that darkness could become his greatest strength. And he will kill to claim Serra’s love.
EXCERPT:  “Excellent. Start in as soon as you can. Use what weapons you have. Stealth is good. Anonymity is better. If you can, burn the corpses. Most demons are highly flammable in this world and shouldn’t cause a problem.” Serra paced the room as they worked.
Gregor took over. “Remember if you get caught, you’re on your own. Call a member of your team and get someone to take your place. If you or any on your team gets hurt, go to Megan Cavanaugh. She’ll take care of you.”
They splintered off into groups. Maggie and Chandra made lists of who to talk to and how fast they could get a team together. The two Caines and Danny huddled in one corner, talking tactics.
Serra moved to the window. The ocean pulled at her, the rhythm and flow of it. Just like the rhythm and flow of the life that swirled in the room behind her. But out there in the world the blight continued, dark spots that resonated in her soul. The sickness infecting the land would surely infect her were it not contained soon.
This, after all, was why she’d demanded to come in Terrell’s place. If the humans didn’t crush the second Hjurlt and the darkness he represented, then it would fall to her to destroy that darkness, to take it inside her, just like Terrell had done. She knew better than to believe the second Hjurlt would be an easy kill. A death that mirrored her twin’s would at least be an honorable death.
REVIEW RATING: 4 LIGHTNING BOLTS
REVIEW: Action, adventure, secrets....Demon Hunt has quite a bit of tension, anticipation, and plenty of activity to keep readers engaged.
The demons are coming. Sent to try and close a portal, Serra comes into the human world, trying to stay safe and save her world.  Stubborn Gregor meets Serra and is there to help, much to his chagrin. he pair have plenty of hurdles to go through. I love the world Ms. Ashworth has created. I had no idea that this was a second book in a series, but enjoyed it nonetheless. I like books that feature Fae, and every new story I read has a new unique spin on them. I'm a new fan, and can't wait to find more from author Christine Ashworth. Kudos to a job well done in this book.
AUTHOR Bio and Links:
Christine Ashworth is a native of Southern California. The daughter of a writer and a psych major, she fell asleep to the sound of her father's Royal manual typewriter for years. In a very real way, being a writer is in her blood-her father sold his first novel before he turned forty; her brother sold his first book before he turned twenty-five.
At the tender age of seventeen, Christine fell in love with a man she met while dancing in a ballet company. She married the brilliant actor/dancer/painter/music man, and they now have two tall sons who are as scintillating as their parents, keeping the dinner conversation lively.
Christine's two dogs rule the outside, defending her vegetable garden from the squirrels, while a polydactyl rescue cat holds court inside the house. Everything else is in a state of flux.
