When the skeletal remains of a young woman and her baby are found entombed behind the kitchen wall of a historic Tudor house Cassandra is overcome with grief. She seems to know who the young woman was, but not how she knows or how she came to be there. Cassandra becomes inexplicably drawn to the house and the mystery of the Bones of Blackfriars. As she begins to learn the truth about the Thorne siblings who occupied the house during the reign of Elizabeth I, her own life takes an unexpected turn and she finds that her fate is linked to the Thornes in ways she never dreamed of.

Review: A writer is always looking for a good story. What happens when she goes searching for it and is swept up into the past?
Cassandra is intrigued by a story on the news. A house, skelital remains...come on, what's not to be intrigued by? Then things take a strange turn for Cassandra....Within the pages of Precious Bones connects a past and a present..with riveting suspense and well written scenes that take the reader on an exceptional journey.
Now I admit, there are a few times where I'm left confused and a little bit lost, but it's not too often and it didn't pull me too far out of the story.
This is the first I've read of Ms. Shapiro's work and I'm pretty impressed. Well done!
