Welcome to Wednesday! Today's hot seat interviewee is author Debbie Gould.
Without further ado, let's begin!
First off, tell me about yourself, and your writing.
Hi there, I am the mother of three great kid, also work full time as a nurse in a rural Vermont family practice. I started writing a while ago and was first published in 2007. Romantic Suspense is my Fave!
How long have you been writing? How many published books do you have, and what genres?
I have five books published, they range from Dark Romantic suspense to contemporary romance with some paranormal thrown in for good measure.
Do you write in multiple genres or just one? If just one, do you ever consider straying outside your genre?
Multiple. The book my writing partner, L.J. Garland and I just finish run the gambit. It is book one of a series that will have a bit of everything thrown in there.
Are you a plotter or do you write from the seat of your pants?
Combination. I've learned the fine art of plotting from L.J., but it's still pretty darned loose, lol.
What is a typical writing day like for you?
I write when I can after work and weekends. It's never typical since I have to write around my work schedule and family time.
Who do you love to read? Favorite authors, favorite books?
I read mainly Romantic Suspense and just love military OR cowboy themes, lol. Favorite book I do believe is Tami Hoags Lucky's Lady. Darn but that Lucky was a sexy dude!
What is something you'd like to accomplish in your writing career next year?
More contracts, which means I need to carve out more writing time. Hard thing to do, but I'm working on it!
If you could have one paranormal ability, what would it be? Read other peoples minds, that way I may not have been so shocked when my hubby left me for another woman. Yeah bit of a blindside there, lol. Guess I'll stick to my books for happy endings.
If you could keep a mythical/ paranormal creature as a pet, what would you have? Dragon, so he can breath fire on the other woman, HAHAHA...Okay just kidding...mostly.
Tell us a little about your latest release.
Second Chance is about an Air Force Spec Op dude who loses his wife in childbirth while he is on a mission and basically shuts down emotionally. It's about learning how to accept you cant control fate and learning to forgive yourself and most importantly learning that family and love is everything and everyone deserves a second chance at happiness.
What is something that you absolutely can't live without? (Other than family members)
I guess I'd have to say reading. I love being taken along on a good ride. Feeling and experiencing what the characters do. There is nothing like a good book to help you escape.
Could you ever co author a book with someone? If so, who would you choose, and what would you write?
I do co-author with L.J. Garland. We have a Romantic Suspense coming out May 18th from Decadent Publishing. Just finished a paranormal and have another 1NS in the works among many others.
What are some of your other hobbies outside of writing?
Reading, travel, cooking and an occasional lazy Sunday watching Lifetime, lol.
If you were on the staff to have a book adapted to movie, what would you pick?
The book L.J. Garland and I just wrote Sins of the Mind.
What is a talent you wish you had, but don't?
I've always wanted to be able to tie a cherry stem into a not with my tongue. But I try and try and just cant get it.
Favorite color?
Blue, all shades of blue, but my favorite shade of blue is my grand baby's eyes. So beautiful!
Weather:Hot or cold?
75 would be perfect!
Favorite place to read?
On the deck or beach.
Favorite meal
Lobster or crab legs, yummy!
Favorite non-alcoholic drink.
Vodka Collins
If you could travel anywhere and do anything, no limits or money holding you back, where would you go?
The entire US. I'd like to see other countries, bit I want to see all we have to offer here first.
Debbie, this has been fun! Thank you for answering my questions.
Now, here's a bit about Second Chance!
BLURB:
Lieutenant Colin
Beckett, US Air Force special ops, lost his wife in childbirth while
off on a mission. Two years later, he’s still trying to come to
grips with the guilt that tortures him. And to complicate matters, he
finds himself undeniably attracted to his wife's sister, Emily.
Struggling with his desire, he tells himself he doesn’t deserve a
second chance with such an amazing woman.
Emily wants Colin in her life and her
bed. Enlisting the help of Colin's teammate's and Madame Eve's 1
Night Stand dating service, she plans to prove to Colin he can have
everything he lost once again.
Will their one night lead to the happy
ending she longs for or the loneliness he thinks he deserves?
Author Bio:
Born in Wichita Falls, Texas, at the
age of two Debbie and her mother moved to New Jersey, spending many
happy years on her grandparents' horse farm. You'll sometimes find
this setting as a backdrop in her work.
As a teenager, she and her mother found
a new home in Vermont, where she currently resides. With a daughter
in the Air Force, one son in college and the other working for the
family business, Debbie now shuffles her time between a husband and
full time job as a nurse, and writing.
About seven years ago, while looking at
over three hundred treasured books lining her shelves, she realized
there was a multitude of stories of her own clamoring for release.
Since then, she's seriously persevered in keeping the keyboard in
constant motion.
With two novels, Mountain's Echo and
Infidelity, and two novellas, November Rain and Second Chance now
published, Debbie is now also working with a partner, L.J. Garland.
Together the two have written Sins of the Mind and are hard at work
on many more manuscripts.
Debbie has been a member of KOD, FTHRW,
ELEMENTS and RWA Online.

Until next time,
Storm Goddess
*waves* to Debbie and Nikki! Mind reading would be a great thing to have. Second Chance was such a great book. I'm looking forward to the next one.
ReplyDeleteMarika
It sure as heck would! Thanks, Marika!
DeleteGreat interview! I think if I could have a paranormal ability it would be flying. I would be cool to just take off whenever you wanted. LOL Hey...we could team up as a dynamic duo! LOLOL
ReplyDeleteLMFAO, we already are! Besides I figured you'd want the ability to snap your fingers and have a cup of coffee appear.
DeleteI'd love to be able to fly as well. Wonderful interview! :)
ReplyDeleteThere has got to be a downside to being able to fly. Like what if you got sucked into a jet engine like those poor geese.
ReplyDeleteIf you two ever figure it out, just beware.
Lovely interview, Debbie. And the excerpt from Second Chance is very good. Good luck with your writing!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Vicki!
DeleteHey, everyone! Thanks for dropping by to hang with Debbie and I today! Sorry I'm late in commenting, allergies are kicking my butt today!
ReplyDeleteIf I had a paranormal ability (Aside from being the Storm Goddess and controlling the weather, lol) I would want to be able to read minds.....Yeah, I might not feel so bad wondering what some people are REALLY thinking anymore!
Hey, Nikki. Thanks so much for having me here today. I totally agree with the mind reading thing, lol.
DeleteGreat interview, Nikki and Debbie! Love the cover for Second Chance. :) Great blurb too!
ReplyDeleteWonderful interview--and LOVED the excerpt.
ReplyDeleteLOL, being able to read minds would be cool, but then you would be able to know exactly what others think of you. LOL, I would be scared to know just what people think of me.
Flying would be my choice of a paranormal power.
This story sounds so great! Debbie - I love the cover. One of the best 1NS covers out there.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural ability - I do NOT want to know what people are thinking. I'm insecure and paranoid enough. I don't need confirmation. I would like to be able to manipulate time.
I always wanted to be Plasticman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIoHDB1FUOM
