DEBUT author Lia Davis in the Interview hot seat!

I loooove interviews, and hey, I've got a brand new author here for you! Her name is Lia Davis, and Lia's debut book, Ravished Before Sunrise is out now!

Welcome, Lia! I'm glad to have you with us today. i look forward to learning more about you and your books.

tell me about yourself, and your writing.

I live in northeast Florida with my husband, my two young adult children and two kitties. I love creating new paranormal worlds. It started after I read my first paranormal romance and my muse hasn’t shut up since.

How long have you been writing? How many published books do you have, and what genres?

I’ve always enjoyed writing, just didn’t think of doing it professionally until about three years ago.

My short paranormal erotic, Ravished Before Sunrise, released yesterday, May 1st, with Decadent Publishing. Yay!! It’s a 1Night Stand story.

My novel, Forgotten Visions, -- the first in my Divinities series -- is currently going through edits. No release date as of yet, but I’ll be sure to let everyone know once we reach the final stages.

Do you write in multiple genres or just one? If just one, do you ever consider straying outside your genre?

I write mainly paranormal, but I have a couple of short contemporaries in the works.

Are you a plotter or do you write from the seat of your pants?

I’m a hybrid. LOL. When starting a series, or a single title, I have to plot out the characters, setting, and main back-story. Once the foundation is set, I pants it.

What is a typical writing day like for you?

Well, my writing days aren’t very typical. LOL. I have a full time day job Monday through Friday, so I only have about four hours per day during the week to work on promo and writing. I try to write everyday to keep my muse happy. She can be very chatty at times. If I ignore her, she leaves for a while. My writing partner, Carrie Ann Ryan, and I believe our muses take vacations together.

Who do you love to read? Favorite authors, favorite books?

I love JR Ward’s voice and both her series, Black Dagger Brotherhood and Fallen Angels. I also love the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Although I have many favorites, those are at the top of list. And my list is growing as I discover new authors every day.

What is something you'd like to accomplish in your writing career next year?

My writing goal for this year is to publish at least two more books by December. I have a few projects I’m working on that will help me meet that goal. Next year, I hope to be preparing to stay at home to write full time.

If you could have one paranormal ability, what would it be?

I’d love to be able to teleport. I could sleep in a little longer and avoid two hours a day sitting in traffic.

If you could keep a mythical/ paranormal creature as a pet, what would you have?

A dragon! No, not a komodo dragon. A huge winged, fire-breathing dragon with teal and purple scales. LOL

Tell us a little about your latest release.

My debut novella released yesterday (May 1st)! I’m so excited. Ravished Before Sunrise is one of the latest installments of Decadent Publishing’s 1Night Stand series. It was loads of fun to write. It’s about two people who long for a change in life and a chance for adventure, but find so much more than they expected. Emalee isn’t quite human and is tired of her less then excited life within the local witch coven. Darian is a vampire and a widower who has grown tired of his long life.

What is something that you absolutely can't live without? (Other than family members)

Other than family, nothing really. Oh my cats, but they’re family. lol. Everything else is replaceable.

Could you ever co author a book with someone? If so, who would you choose, and what would you write?

Ah…not sure I should answer this right yet. *grins* But yes, I will and I’m working on something now with my BFF and writing partner, Carrie Ann Ryan. That’s all I’m saying for now.

What are some of your other hobbies outside of writing?

I make beaded jewelry and recently started to learn how to do digital graphics like website headers, banner, and other small graphics.

Favorite color?

Purple

Weather: Hot or cold?

I prefer cold over hot, but my favorite temperature is between 65 - 75 degrees.

Favorite place to read?

Anywhere quiet. If that not available I’ll out my headphones on. LOL

Favorite meal

Anything Italian.

Favorite non-alcoholic drink.

Sweet red wine.

If you could travel anywhere and do anything, no limits or money holding you back, where would you go?

I would love to go to Ireland.

What FUN this was, Lia! And I am certainly curious about your little hush hush deal with Carrie Ann Ryan :)

Blurb:
Born with the unusual ability to see what truly lies in the shadows, Emalee Black is stuck between two worlds, the paranormal and the human. Neither one accepts or understands her and she's forced to live a quiet, boring life in hiding. When her best friend mentions 1Night Stand dating service, Ema chooses a role-playing adventure straight out of her romantic fantasies. She's to hunt her very own vampire and have her wicked way him.
Vampire Darian Wyman is surprised when his daughter signs him up for a one-night stand with an exclusive matching agency. At first he's appalled by the idea, but as he reads the details of the date he becomes intrigued. For one night he will get away from the life he has long grown tired of to be hunted and captured by a would-be huntress. But he has plans of his own for his little vixen.

However, when Darian discovers the truth about Ema's inhuman abilities, the date could end before it gets started.

Excerpt
Emalee’s pulse raced as she drummed her fingers on her desk and searched the website. A giddiness she hadn’t known since senior prom ran through her. The site claimed unlimited possibilities, a chance for adventure. Could they mean it? Because she’d already seen things beyond what humans deemed possible. Hell, her whole existence was unimaginable.
Her life had taken a lonesome turn when a friend she hadn’t seen since high school noted how much younger than the rest of her classmates she looked. Her long-lasting youth had become a liability. Drawing too much attention to her unusual gift wouldn’t prove wise. In some cases, it could get her killed. With no alternative, she’d closed the door on her life among humans and moved into the local witch coven, where everyone was different.

“What will you do?” Her best friend since preschool, a coven member in good standing, sat next to her for moral support and encouragement. Ema didn’t need much encouragement. The second Beth had mentioned a one-night stand, she’d been hooked. And Madame Eve’s dating service would save her from dying of boredom, at least for one night.

But could she go through with it? A wicked smile tugged at her lips and her inner voice said, “Hell, yeah.” Human strangers gave her a sense of safety. They knew nothing about her past or her unusual abilities.

“Just one night?”

About Lia
Lia Davis is a mother to two young adults and two very special, equally different kitty cats. She’s a wife to her soul mate, who drives her crazy during editing/revisions. She and her family live in Northeast Florida battling hurricanes and very humid summers. But it’s her home and she loves it!

An accounting major, Lia has always been a dreamer with a very activity imagination. The wheels in her head never stop. She only recently became serious about publishing her work and loves it more than she imagined. Writing is a stress reliever that allows her to go off in her corner of the house and enter into another world she created, leaving the day job where it belongs.

Her favorite things are spending time with family, traveling, reading, writing, chocolate, coffee, nature and hanging out with her kitties.

Oh and ONE more thing before we go.
