The first feature is an interview! I love asking questions, prodding lightly into an author's mind. So fun. Here we go.

First off, tell me about yourself, and your writing.

Safari Moon is a work of love and commemoration to my parents who have been active their entire lives. I was so jealous when they went on vacation, taking bicycle tour adventures all over the world. Writing this story was reminiscent and nostalgic all at the same time. I typically write historical romances so I have to be so careful with the language and word usage. With Safari Moon I could use everyday slang and expressions. So fun to just let loose and write what popped into my head.

How long have you been writing? How many published books do you have, and what genres?

A long time, I started writing in '92. I loved pirate books, so, of course, my first book was about a pirate—go figure. Most of my books are historical romances. I have published five western historicals, two regency romances, three highland romances, one futuristic and one contemporary romance. Safari Moon, I am writing with an AKA Ann Christine. I also have published three novellas.

Do you write in multiple genres or just one? If just one, do you ever consider straying outside your genre?

Steam punk has fascinated me for a couple of years. If I ever find the time to research the genre, I would love to see what the book could become.

Are you a plotter or do you write from the seat of your pants?

At one time I would have considered myself a punster and maybe in my early writing days it worked for me. Now, however, I do intensive plotting. My scenes are meticulously laid out and choreographed as well as my character development.

What is a typical writing day like for you?

In my life a typical writing day does not exist. If I could plan everyday, I would write a couple of hours every morning and edit and promote in the afternoon. Yet even with my children grown, married, and living away from home there is no consistency in my days.

Who do you love to read? Favorite authors, favorite books?

Historical romances of any time period are my favored reads. I have read so many romances that I do not really have a favorite author or a favorite book.

What is something you'd like to accomplish in your writing career next year?

During the course of this year, I would like to finish the edits on my third regency romance A Marriage of Inconvenience and see it published.

If you could have one paranormal ability, what would it be?

Hmm...this one is hard. There are so many possibilities it is hard to make a choice. I believe I might like the ability to talk to and see ghosts.

If you could keep a mythical/ paranormal creature as a pet, what would you have?

The one that comes to mind is the unicorn.

Tell us a little about your latest release.

Safari Moon has a conniving, matchmaking grandfather who is willing to do just about anything to see his grandson, Solo, wed to the perfect girl for Solo.

You will also find a not quite so innocent grandmother who wants grandchildren and has always know Nyssa is the perfect girl for Solo.

We have Unrequited Love but is it? Have they both known they were in love with each other from the moment they met? Perhaps they were just too darn comfortable in their best friend relationship to risk the complication of changing something that works.

There are also the cutest most adorable wolf pups.

Stormy weather and hot steamy showers.

And so much more.

What is something that you absolutely can't live without? (Other than family members)

Oh, my computer beyond a doubt.

Could you ever co author a book with someone? If so, who would you choose, and what would you write?

I actually have co authored a book with my critique partners. We wrote a St. Patrick's Day Anthology. We each had our own story but they were intertwined and it was a lot of fun. The book had fairies, night elves and gnomes as well as a time machine and so much more. My novella is called Star Crossed and will be available in kindle form after St. Patrick's Day.

What are some of your other hobbies outside of writing?

I have many hobbies they include knitting, drawing, needlepoint...

If you were on the staff to have a book adapted to movie, what would you pick?

Pirates Pleasure by Heather Graham, I love pirates and this book was first romance I read and I consider this story to represent the start of my writing career.

What is a talent you wish you had, but don't?

I would love to be able to sing

Favorite color?

Blue—in the winter. Yellow—in the spring. Pink—in the summer and Purple—in the fall. I really love colors and this is a really hard question.

Weather: Hot or cold?

Hot

Favorite meal

Too hard... probably my husband's lasagna

Favorite non-alcoholic drink.

Hot chocolate

If you could travel anywhere and do anything, no limits or money holding you back, where would you go?

Everywhere. I would definitely take a trip around the world, try to hit every country and take a couple of years.

Born in Medford, Oregon, novelist Christine Young has lived in Oregon all of her life. After graduating from Oregon State University with a BS in science, she spent another year at Southern Oregon State University working on her teaching certificate, and a few years later received her Master's degree in secondary education and counseling. Now the long, hot days of summer provide the perfect setting for creating romance. She sold her first book, Dakota's Bride, the summer of 1998 and her second book, My Angel to Kensington. EXCERPT:  It didn’t take much to envision him, half-naked, sleepy, in bed, and wrapped in the redhead’s arms.

“Nyssa?” His sexy voice brought her out of the spell she’d almost smothered herself in.

“Get your hands off my husband!” Nyssa’s voice blurted out but her few crisp words had the desired effect. The lady’s hands dropped to her sides and her lips moved in a pert little moue.

At least Solo had the presence of mind to take advantage of her verbal warning. Standing, he neatly dumped the woman on her rounded derriere onto the couch.

If Nyssa hadn’t felt such outrage, the scene could have been construed as comical. But she did feel intense indignation and a possessiveness she wouldn’t analyze at the moment.

“Your husband?” The female cooed unbelievingly. “Now why do I find that hard to believe?”

“What a surprise darling.” She turned to Solo. “Is this one willing, eager, or able? Or perhaps a combination of all three?” She did try to push the anger from her voice. But then she thought it was a nice touch and if anger got rid of the female it was worth the embarrassment.

“Of all the nerve!”

“Yes, my wife does have--nerve. Among other things.” Solo still stood, open-mouthed, as Nyssa made her way across the room.

Nyssa ran her hand up Solo’s arm and endeavored for sultry instead of anger in her tone. “Sorry the plane took so long. Just like you asked, I bought a silky little black thing for bed.”

There were a number of things that could go wrong. For starters, Solo could deny the relationship, and then of course the redhead could figure out she lied. Somehow she didn’t expect either scenario.

“Pumpkin,” Solo said with a husky little growl in the timbre of his voice.

Pumpkin?

“Would you like a glass of wine?”

Before she had a chance to answer, he had maneuvered around discarded clothes and tumbled furniture to make his way to the kitchen and back with a glass, and was now pouring. He grinned from ear-to-ear and she felt a real sense of accomplishment.

“I tried to tell her I was spoken for, but until you showed up she didn’t believe me.”
