Meet Marianne from One Night in Brooklyn

It's not often a character from a book comes out to play, but today, I have the honor to introduce Marianne. Marianne is the heroine in Casea Major's One Night in Brooklyn. I had fun interviewing her, so I hope you'll enjoy reading it as much as I did hosting it!

Marianne, so it says you signed up for a one night stand....what made you decide to do that? What went running through your mind?

First I want to say thank you so much for having me today. What an honor to be here. This is my first character interview. Now to answer your question truthfully without sounding like a goofball -- **Snickers** Lots of things ran through my mind. But the idea of finding a noble knight to romance and…you know…**blushes furiously**make love to me was an experience I couldn't pass up.

You're a hopeless romantic. I'm sure it's gotten you into some tough and emotional situations. Would you care to talk about that a little?

I seem to either pick the guys who are too much in love with themselves or the ones who are too much in love with their moms. Not that I mind a guy who loves his mom. I think that's great but when he has to call her and ask her where to take me for dinner…

It is definitely hard to find "that" guy...so many misses before you get the hit.
What was your very first impression of Robert when you first met him? How quickly did your opinion change?

Oh geez, you are putting me on the spot. Robert is the best-looking guy I have ever seen. For God's sake, he was a cover model for the Firefighters Calendar. But he's such a guy. Romance didn't seem to be his middle name. But once I got to know him intimately, I realized he is very romantic—In fact, he's the most romantic guy I've ever dated.

Sorry for putting you on the spot....or, maybe not.  I miss the feeling of meeting and learning about a man. The newness of a relationship is one of the best feelings, in my opinion.

Talk about your experience traveling to a different time. That always fascinates me, and I'd love to hear your thoughts about it! What are some things you would have loved to have in this time that you saw back then? Or vise versa.

Holy crap, I still don't know what happened. Madame Eve didn't seem concerned about all that transpired, and I guess I sort of think of it like unintended air travel. If the pilot isn't freaked out about the turbulence than neither am I. **Shrugs**
As far as the medieval thing goes, all I can say is -- the bathroom room situation left a lot to be desired. So unless you like sitting on a bowl to pee or bathing in a tub of cold water I recommend the good ole twenty-first century. **Laughs**

Hmm, yeah. I don't think I'd want to be without the luxury of a 21st century bathroom either... :)
If there wasn't so much going on during your travels, what would you have liked to do? I mean, it's not every day you get to go back in time.

Well aside from getting almost-raped and bitch-slapped, the countryside was charming. The castle was cold in the corridors and oddly breezy but my room was warm and comfortable (again not including the lack of facilities)

Let's talk more about Robert again. What are some of your favorite qualities about him? Quirks?

Robert is an amazing guy – but GUY is the optimal word. He scratches himself (sometimes in public) Ugh! He laughs at dirty jokes and spends a lot of time watching sports on TV. **Smiles shyly** But sometimes when I'm not even expecting it, he brings me a single rose, or leaves me a love note on his pillow when he spends the night on-duty at the station. **Sighs** You may not think so by looking at him but he is a very good dancer. And late at night after his son Michael goes to bed he'll turn down the lights and just dance with me in the dark—Like I said, VERY romantic.

I have a Robert like that. Always the unexpected, but he's definitely such a guy. But I love him regardless!
Would you care to tell us something that no one knows about you? It doesn't have to be too personal. But something that gives us more of an insight to who you are.

Well, one thing is that my dad is a Baptist preacher of a large congregation in Dallas. I grew up in the church. My parents have been married for more than twenty-five years and are still madly in love. My heart's desire is to find that kind of love and now I think I have.

And I haven't announced it to everyone but on Christmas Eve, Robert proposed. We are getting married this summer. **SQUEE** He really is my knight in shining armor.

That's wonderful! Congratulations! A Christmas proposal....that IS romantic!
Describe your perfect romantic evening- whether it's one you've had or one you wish you could have.

My perfect romantic evening is a game of Wii with Michael and Robert and some cuddling on the couch watching a movie with Robert after the little guy goes to bed. It's more happiness than any one girl can hope for and I feel so blessed.

I love the Wii! Wii bowling is popular in our house, and my two year old is starting to get into the game too. Sometimes the simplest things make for a great night.
Well, Marianne, I won't keep you much longer. I do thank you for coming by and talking with us today. Is there anything you'd like to say?

I'd like to say that if you are looking for a good romance with a little adventure and a lot of laughs, One Knight in Brooklyn will not disappoint. Besides you can get first hand exactly how sexy and romantic my big strong fireman can be.

Thanks for having me Storm Goddess!

It sounds wonderful, Marianne! I know I'm going to get myself a copy. Thank you for answering my questions, even when I put you on the spot. It's been wonderful getting to know you. I wish you many years of happiness with Robert.

After signing up for a one-night stand through an exclusive matching agency, hopeless romantic Marianne Caldwell is swept away to a medieval land where she hopes to spend the night with a worthy man of honor.
Unsure of how she got from the Castillo Hotel in Las Vegas to a castle in the English countryside, Mare finds Robert, whose stunning physique and winning smile immediately convince her he's the Robin Hood she's been seeking. But despite his efforts in saving her from a corrupt sheriff, his Jersey Shore accent and coarse ways unravel her romantic visions.
With her fairytale fantasies coming unhinged, Mare must decide if Robert is just a crass car salesman from Brooklyn or the chivalrous knight she's looking for.

  3. Hi Marianne, Casea and Nikki. I loved the interview and the book was excellent. Wii rules at our house. Bowling is the family favorite but Star Wars Lego the complete episodes is a close second. Congrats on the engagement, too.
