Are you one of those people....?

Are you the kind of person that's obsessed with stats?

Apparently, I am. Did I realize this before? Maybe. It just dawned on me today, while i was playing a silly little game on my tablet. When I lost the game, I had an option to submit my score, and i couldn't wait to see where I ranked in different areas. They showed two things- one was my ranking in the last 100 plays. When I submitted this particular score, i ranked 10th. I was not in the top 100 plays of the week.

What did I do?

I'm sure you can guess, right?

I played some more. And a few more, and so on. I have other things I could do. I've got writing, reading, housework....you get the picture.

But because I am obsessed with stats, I procrastinated to try and up my ranking.

By the way, the game I'm talking about? Papi Jump. I don't know why I'm so obsessed with that game. All I do is try to keep the little red smiley face from falling. I turn my tablet this way, and that way to keep him going up.

It's funny how the simple things can amuse you. And keep you from doing other things at the same time.

Another piece of proof about being obsessed with stats is that I check my Amazon Review ranking quite a few times a week? Why? I have no freaking clue, other than what I stated today. Obsession.

Am I going to be the same way when I finally have a book to publish? Probably. Oh yeah, I'm going to be all over it. *Sighs*

So tell me, please tell me I'm not alone. Are you obsessed with stats? What are you always looking at and trying to improve your numbers on?

Until next time,

Storm Goddess

  4. I'm a total numbers person with a degree in accounting and a profession in bookkeeping, but i'm not obsessed with stats. I'm the person who is obsessed with random facts and imponderables. I love having tons of random things in my head so that when someone says I wonder why brides originally carried bouquets down the aisle I can come back and say oh well that because in medieval times they took baths like only once a year and they used flowers to hide the stench of their dirty selves lol.

  5. I'm the opposite. I like to stay in a state of ignorance and pretend my stats are higher, LOL.

  7. LOL...loved this post. You are so not alone. When I was waiting for the release date of my first book with TWRP, I checked my emails constantly...and that is only one of my obsessions. I had an obsession to an online game called bejeweled (over it...almost had to seek treatment..lol) and I also check my blog for comments a lot because I want to make sure to reply.

I'm sure there are more, but I'll stop myself...lol

We writers are pretty alike in many ways.

Brenda, you are the one that loves sugar coating haha.
