She discovers that the tall, dark and unbelievably sexy man he had become was also reciprocating her feelings and so begins an intense, smoldering love story. In parallel with this intervenes the ghostly appearance of a mysterious woman, followed by a series of scary episodes. Strange things happen in the strange place where Clara has landed and she and her lover are constrained to find out what happened to the mystery woman. Her fate, which had been sealed by some very dangerous yoga practices, seems to be connected with the much controversial Philadelphia Experiment, a fact that is discussed only in whispers, behind closed doors."

The Wedding Date: Spotlight and Author Interview

Tell me about yourself, and your writing.
I’ll be glad to. Thanks for inviting me!

I’ve been an avid reader since I was a child, and I always knew in the back of my mind that someday I’d be a writer too. After college, I made a few false starts on writing a novel, but I just wasn’t ready. So I went to law school and I’ve had a great, successful career as an attorney.

Then one day, without forethought or planning, I picked up a pen and started writing. A week later I bought a laptop. Next thing I knew I was staying up till three in the morning, writing, writing, just wanting to know what was going to happen next. It was the most fun I’d ever had, and when I finally finished my opus, I started getting serious about the business of writing.

More manuscripts followed. I joined RWA, finaled in, then won, the Golden Heart, landed an agent and eventually a publishing contract with Avon. And here I am, a debut author!

How long have you been writing? How many published books do you have, and what genres?
I’ve been writing for ten years. THE WEDDING FAVOR, which goes on sale December 31, is the first book I sold. But THE WEDDING DATE ended up being my debut, simply because the production schedule is so much shorter for an e-novella.

Do you write in multiple genres or just one? If just one, do you ever consider straying outside your genre?
My first manuscript was a western historical that I still love and plan to revise (drastically) some day. For now, though, I’m happy writing contemporaries.

Are you a plotter or do you write from the seat of your pants?
Now that I have deadlines, I’m a semi-reformed pantser. Too much plotting and I lose interest; too little and I get into deadline trouble. I’m still finding the right balance.

What is a typical writing day like for you?
Three hours in the morning, lunch, walk my dog Bella two or three miles, three hours in the afternoon, dinner with my husband, two hours in the evening.

Who do you love to read? Favorite authors, favorite books?
Diana Gabaldon, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, JD Robb, Patrick O’Brian, Bernard Cornwell
Outlander, The Hunger Games trilogy, Gone with the Wind

What is something you'd like to accomplish in your writing career next year?
In 2014 I’ll be writing the next two books in the Save the Date series and pitching a new contemporary series – TBA!

If you could have one paranormal ability, what would it be?
Time travel

If you could keep a mythical/ paranormal creature as a pet, what would you have?
Sapphira from Eragon

Tell us a little about your latest release.
My novella THE WEDDING DATE introduces my Save the Date series. It’s about Julie Marone, a realtor with a gift for matching couples with their dream houses. She even had one picked out for herself, until she lost her fiancé to cancer before they could move in. She’s had a grudge against doctors ever since, so when Cody Brown, ER doc, erstwhile bronc rider and all around hottie, asks her to find him a condo, she tries to send him packing. But he’s persistent, and with the help of Julie’s matchmaking sister Amelia, he angles to be Julie's date for Amelia's Christmas Eve wedding.

What is something that you absolutely can't live without? (Other than family members)
Toast: Italian bread, lots of butter. I eat it every day.

Could you ever co author a book with someone? If so, who would you choose, and what would you write?
I’m too much of a control freak for that!

What are some of your other hobbies outside of writing?
Painting, walking, groupie for my husband’s band

What is something you've always wanted to do, but haven't done yet. Why not?
Someday I’ll go up in a hot air balloon, but I haven’t gotten up the nerve yet.

If you were on the staff to have a book adapted to movie, what would you pick?
Heaven, Texas by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

What is a talent you wish you had, but don't?
Piano playing

Favorite color?
The gray/green of my husband’s eyes. Corny but true!

Weather: Hot or cold?
Neither. Give me spring or fall!

Favorite place to read?
On my swing in the summer, by the fire in the winter

Favorite meal
Pasta, with my own sauce and meatballs

Favorite non-alcoholic drink.
Coffee!

If you could travel anywhere and do anything, no limits or money holding you back, where would you go?
I’d be a bridge officer on the Enterprise, exploring strange new worlds

Thanks for having me – this was fun!
The Wedding Date
A Save the Date Novella
By: Cara Connelly
Releasing November 19th, 2013

Blurb

Julie Marone isn’t your ordinary matchmaker. Instead of setting up singles, she matches already-happy couples with their dream homes. It’s her calling. Her gift. And since she lost the other half of her own happy couple, it’s become her passion.
Cody Brown isn’t your ordinary cowboy. Instead of roping runaway steers, he wrangles sick kids and strung-out junkies as an ER doc. It’s his job. His responsibility. And since his brother lost his wife to a drunk driver, it’s his mission.
When Cody moves from Austin to Boston, he wants Julie to find him a condo, and fast. But she’s got issues with that. Because not only is Cody single, he’s a doctor to boot, and ever since her fiancé died, she’s got a major grudge against doctors.
Cody charms her into breaking her “couples-only” rule, but when he angles to be her date for her sister’s Christmas Eve wedding, he finds out Julie’s “no-doctor” rule is unbending. Still, he’s not quitting, because as hard as Julie fights it, there’s heat between them. If Cody has his way, they’ll be a couple by Christmas, and the next dream house Julie finds will be their own.

By: Alana Albertson

Blurb
To her millions of fans, ballroom champion Selena Marcil seems to have the perfect life: a great dance partner, a hit reality show, and celebrity perks. But underneath the glamorous ball gowns, Selena longs to find someone to share her life with when the stage lights dim.
Selena’s childhood sweetheart, Bret Lord, hung up his dance shoes after winning two national titles with her as a teenager, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He never saw his former fiancée again, except on television and on the cover of men’s magazines. Ten years and three deployments later, Bret gets an offer to audition for Selena’s dance show. When the Marine Corps gives him temporary leave to appear on the series, Bret can’t refuse the quick cash that will enable him to provide financially for the widow of his buddy, even if it does mean coming face to face with his past.
When Bret shows up at her national championship, Selena is shocked. For years she searched for him to no avail. After spending time with Bret, Selena realizes despite their past romance, they have no future. He has no desire to live under a spotlight and she has no desire to leave it. Excerpt

Staff Sergeant Bret Lord sat on the dirty floor of his tent, going through the day’s mail: the latest Men’s Fitness magazine from his sister, a care package from his mom. He ripped open the package—socks, lip balm, sunflower seeds, and a thin letter that contained an old magazine clipping.
Dear Bret,
I miss you very much. Benny asked me to send you this article. I really wish you would consider his offer. Please stay safe.
Love, Mom
He swallowed hard. A neon sticky pressed on the wrinkled page had a note scrawled on it from his former master dance coach.
Bret, m’boy,
We’ll make it worth your time.
Cheers, Benny.
Thumbing the edge of the article, Bret stared at the sixteen-year-old boy in the picture and could barely recognize himself. His shoulder length, wavy blond hair was slicked back, not shorn in a “high and tight” like his current haircut. No signs of the tattoos or muscles that currently defined his body. Golden skin stained from a bottle, not the harsh sun of Iraq. His arms were wrapped around a gorgeous, curvy young girl with long jet-black hair. The jade Latin gown she wore matched the color of her almond-shaped eyes.
Bret tossed the article aside and removed his nine-mil pistol from his holster to clean it.
Lance Corporal Hernandez walked by Bret and snatched the article off his cot. After staring at it, Hernandez’s face brightened.
Hey, Staff Sergeant, this you?”
No, it’s my clone who’s also named Bret Lord.” Bret slid the rail back on his weapon and began disassembling it.
Staff Sergeant, you know Selena Marcil? Did you hit that?”
Shut up, Hernandez, or the one getting hit will be you—with the butt stock of my rifle.” Bret grabbed the paper out of Hernandez’s hands, and smacked him on the side of the head. The kid didn’t flinch.
Staff Sergeant Twinkle Toes. Hey—can you hook me up with Selena? I’ll be her boy toy. I love her. Man, she’s smoking. Has the nicest ass. Not like all those skinny, Russian chicks on that show.” He nodded to himself with an eyebrow dancing. “Selena’s on my list. She’s Latina, too. We’d be perfect together. What was she doing with a gringo like you?”
Hernandez, you’re way out of line.” Bret reassembled his pistol.
My bad, Staff Sergeant.”
Bret grabbed the article, his pack, and his rifle. It was impossible to get some privacy in the tent. His only option was to sit outside in a sandstorm but even that sounded like a welcome retreat from his immature men. He walked about five hundred feet, then plopped down in the hot sand.
The red sky hung above him, thick from smoke from the nearby town. Bret struggled to catch a glimpse of the distant mountains. Sand seemed to pelt down from the heavens, blinding him and settling into every crevice in his body. He closed his eyes against the sting of the sand, and turned his thoughts to Selena. Was she the diva the tabloids made her out to be? Even after ten years, he could almost smell her buttery-coconut scent. A welcome change from the overflowing shitters, toxic diesel, and stench of his fellow Marines who hadn’t bathed in three weeks.

Review Rating: 4 LIGHTNING BOLTS

Review: I'm a fan of romance stories that feature characters that are part of a reality show. Love
Waltzes in delves into the world of dancing...yes, a bit like Dancing With The Stars.  I think dancing is a beautiful, graceful art and it's something I wish I had the grace to do. Nope, not uncoordinated me. So I'll have to live vivaciously through the characters. Now, about those characters, shall we?

Selena:  She's been dancing since a young age. It's all she's ever known. She loves it. But what she doesn't love is the drama that comes with it- the way her partner acts with his wishy washy ways and his attitude, and the tabloids always sniffing around looking for a story.  Despite what the viewers and fans think, the limelight isn't always the best place to be. But she makes that sacrifice so she can do the one thing she loves.

So, enter in ex fiance Bret. They danced together at that young age and were in love, until Bret turned away from the way of life and entered the military. Well, now he's back in the limelight even though he's not happy about it, but he's got his reasons, which made me like him so dang much! He wanted to give something back to the family of a fallen hero.  The one thing he didn't expect was being so darn close to Selena, or falling for her again.

The tension is on! And so is the drama. They've got a past to let go of or rehash, because their feelings are still for the other. Love Waltzes In is a beautiful romance that I enjoyed. I loved the glimpse into the dance world. I love the passion Selena has for it.  And I'm totally yearning for more from this series and this author....All right, how long do i have to wait??

VBT: Zoey and the Moment of Zen

Getting to Know Zoey Everwood

Hello everyone! Zoey here. You know those annoying email threads that pop up in your inbox—the ones where you have to answer a bunch of random questions? Well, Cat just sent me one and she wants me to share the answers with all of you. I tried to explain to her that I'm busy running a coffee shop but she insists that I do it. She also wants me to avoid giving you any spoilers about the time I spent at the Moment of Zen Wellness Resort. (You'll have to read the book to find out—her words, not mine!) Here goes:

1. What time did you get up this morning? 5 am! The shop opens at six so I have to get up pretty early.

2. What did you have for breakfast? A homemade double chocolate cupcake with almond buttercream. And coffee, of course!

3. What is your favorite cuisine? I could eat Italian food each and every day.

4. What foods do you dislike? Such a cliché, I know… but I can't stand broccoli.

5. Favorite place to eat? Is it bad if I say… Everwood's Coffee Shop in Messina, Connecticut?

6. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be? I'd like to visit a lot of places—but I love my little town and I can't imagine living elsewhere.

7. Where would you visit if you had the chance? I'd love to tour Europe and visit Italy and the UK.

8. Cup half empty or half full? Depends on the day... today it is definitely half full!

9. Favorite time of day? Since I see it so often, I'll say dawn.

10. Where were you born? Hartford, Connecticut.

11. Pets? Yes! I have an adorable cat named Mocha.

12. Any new and exciting news you'd like to share? I do have some exciting news, but I can't share—I've been sworn to secrecy!

13. What is your best childhood memory? Going to the beach with my parents. It's my most vivid memory of them—they died when I was really young.

14. Are you a cat or dog person? Definitely cats!

15. From whom did you get your last email? My best friend, Dar. In fact, the last ten emails I've received have been from her. She's planning a dinner party and keeps changing her mind about what kind of cake she wants me to make.

16. At which store would you choose to max out your credit card? Williams-Sonoma.

17. What are you listening to right now? I'm in the office but I can hear my friend (and amazing Everwood's Coffee Shop barista) Owen joking around with some customers.

18. What is your favorite color? I have two—red and espresso brown. (And, yes, those are the colors of the shop logo!)

19. What time did you finish this quiz? It's past six now and the shop is bustling with customers. I need to get out there and help Owen.

20. Coffee Drinker? Of course. Do you even have to ask? :)

When coffee shop owner Zoey Everwood takes her obsession with ex-boyfriend Braden too far, everyone—except Zoey—is convinced a bit of fun in the sun at the Moment of Zen Wellness Resort will help her get over him once and for all.

But Zoey's relaxing vacation turns out to be anything but peaceful when she meets Shane Lawson, a resort guest who bears a striking resemblance to Braden. And things get even more complicated when the resort's owner starts spilling secrets about Zoey’s aunt Nessa, the woman who raised her. Add a snarky Wellness Coordinator and Nate Holmes—Shane's grumpy friend—to the mix, and you've got the recipe for a perfect tropical storm.

When Zoey comes back home with a new husband instead of tacky souvenirs, she must convince everyone she hasn't completely lost her mind. As Zoey and Shane struggle to keep the magic alive outside the resort, Zoey discovers that she isn't the only one having trouble letting go of the past. And when Nate drops a bombshell that changes everything, Zoey must decide if the old saying is true—what happens at the Moment of Zen stays at the Moment of Zen.

Review: The time has come for an intervention. Oh yes....I know, I know. They can be overbearing
and a pain in the butt....But something's gotta be done! It's been a year since Zoey's break up with her ex, and she can't let go! She's gone a bit- No wait strike that- MORE than a little bit obsessive because of it. Hmm.

Well first off, I want to be at the place on the cover! Umm, gorgeous setting! Intervene in my life anytime! Oh wait, I'm asking for it, aren't I? Okay, anyway, back to the story.

Zoey. Ahh. Sometimes I'm not sure what to think of her. Oh, she's way over the top, but dang it she makes for one heck of a fun read!

Full of fun, mishaps and of course that all important path to self discovery (And attempting to forget about her ex and stop with the obsessive behavior) Zoey and the Moment of Zen is the perfect afternoon read. On the beach, on the porch swing, anywhere. I'm looking forward to much more from this fantastic author!
